  1. The Mauritanian Mahoot is Hamilcar Barca's elephant driver. He'll be sitting on the elephant's neck, behind his ears. I don't believe he will have any weapons of his own, he'll be directing the elephant and deciding which Roman citizen-soldier get's squished next!

  2. Hamilcar Barca, Carthaginian general, father of Hannibal Barca.

per Paul's notes: "Since he is a hero, Hamilcar gets an Indian elephant imported from the east and carrying a war tower. He will be in the tower equipped with a sarissa for stabbing at all the little people who don't get smashed by the elephant itself."

The Mahoot (elephant driver) will be uploaded next.

  3. quote from Paul's introduction: "Maharbal was a leader in Hannibal’s superb cavalry corps, his greatest achievement being the defeat of the Roman horsemen at Cannae in 216 BC. Riding with the light Numidian cavalry, Maharbal was in the thick of the fighting many times during numerous battles. He is most remembered for the famous line after Cannae: “You know how to win victory, Hannibal, you do not know how to use it!”

  4. ooh, nice i see that even thought all of the romans appear to be sitting stiff on the horses (do they get jostled by the horses?), the horses are on different frames of their animation. Will we have different horse skins/colors?

I continue to be impressed with the 3D terrain of the engine B)

  5. I think this looks great, too!

I wouldn't call it blurry, but you do lose the tree leaves against the grass. If we want to have the same color green on the leaves and on the grass, we need to have some shadows in the trees, on the undersides of the branches and on the side of the tree that's away from the sun. Are the trees rendered or are the sprites?

Actually, I'm seeing this on all of the objects. They cast great shadows on the ground, but they don't seem to have internal shadows or highlights. What does the lighting engine support? I know the buildings are prerendered, but what about the trees and models, can we get reflections on armor?

If there's a forum that includes this discussion, let me know, I confess I haven't wandered too far from the art task manager B)
