  1. Science isn't given, you build itday by day according to what you see and experiment in the world. It can change a lot if something strange happens. Definitions are the worst, because it limits. So they tend to differ. The world is somehow complicated, and we have still a lot of work to do to have in our hand a comprehension of our Universe.

  2. Black Op :

    As for me, Esperanto is a language as another. If I indeed want to see people learn and use it for its easiness and helpfulness, I cannot force people to do so. So I just use it when I feel I must use it. In Esperanto I write most of my philosophy, for Esperanto being a great language if you need to build words and new concepts.

    But I think the language I'm creating for myself easier. (Because I do so)

    And for Esperanto being Artificial, let's talk about French :ph34r:

  3. Phantom :

    As for the first two (English and French), it was quite easy. I learned both when I was a young. Actually, my first tongue wasn't neither French or English but some sort of structured language that only I and my sister understood. But I forgot it later, distinguishing between French and English.

    For the third one, Esperanto, it was as easy, since most of the vocabulary comes from French and German.

    For Japanese, I say it will be my real first learned language. I hope it will be good.

  4. Well...

    Who am I.

    I'm 18.

    I'm Melvillian. What does it means, only me and some friends know. I'm the only one of that kind, and I'm proud of being so. When I'll be called Melvillian, I'll show a smile and fly my flag over me.

    I live in a city that is called Montreal, though I wish to live in a city called Cévé.

    I'm a student learning Japanese. I also speak three other languages : English, French, Esperanto. I was foolish enough to learn Esperanto : it's the best thing I ever did (for because of this I like Japanese and a lot of stuff).

    I like Mythology, I especially like to imagine Mythos.

    What else...

    Saa...

    There's nothing more for now.

    If you have questions, ask me, I'll answer :ph34r:

  5. The Little Game is only a way to imagine what I mean about the difference between Reality and Truth. The other universes that I imagine are useless for me, after I have defined both concepts. After this, there is no need to me for that Little Game.

    I have distinguish between Truth and Reality to show that truth is meaningless in our reality, and that reality is everything, anyhow it could be. Because we live in it. That's the main point of my way of thinking, reality is all that is useful. And what needs to be defined is not truth, since it's out-of-context, but what is in Our Universe. (A lot of philosophers that commented Matrix and the In-Computer-Life-possibility comes to about the same answer I got with my own thinking.)

    After that, I always talk about how the Universe is, how we interact. This is what I call Science : Description of the Universe's reality.

    When your in metaphysics, you must somehow disconnect yourself from the world, since it's out of it.

  6. KLINGON AND THENQOL

    As for Klingon, I know why there are capital and little letters. They represent distinct phonemes. That's why it must be a capital H and a capital L. In my language, I don't have problem with this (but I have my own script for it, so...), since I was able to represent all the possible phonemes by the latin alphabet, using h as a phoneme modifier.

    For the world HoL, I did not know. Maybe the sounds close to K, but not it, and L feels to be for language or speaking. Look an Quen in Quenya.... In means speak and has that K soundlike.

    Here are the letters, grouped by the order I give normally. For those that aren't pronounced aas in English, I give a short note about pronouciation. Vowels should be pronounce as in Japanese.

    A E I O U P B T D K G (always hard) F V Th (as the english th in Think) Dh (as the english th in The) S (always like in the word Sky) Z Sh Zh (as the s in meaSure) X (velar unvoiced fricative) Q (velar voiced fricative) M N Nh (as ng in siNG) W L (alveolar voiced, lateral approximant when in front of a voyel, approximant elsewhere) J (as y in Year) R (the Japanese r!).

    A E I O U P B T D K G F V Th Dh S Z Sh Zh Q X M N Nh W L J R (for a total of 28 phonemes)

    -

    For your Japanese, whether it was correct or not, I can't say. But what I'm sure of is that I fully understood what you said without reading the translation.

    Hanasenai hito wo koro@#$%aku arimasen. Sonna hito wa minna sore shika totemo omoshiroi desu. Koroshinakutemo, tabun ORUSUNERU-san to shabette ii no desu ka? [i don't want to kill people that can't speak (Japanese). Even without that, those people are still very interesting. Even if we don't kill them, we could maybe chat.]

    Hehe

  7. It's maybe because I mess with the two universes that I'm talking about.

    1. The imaginary universe in my mind

    2. Our Universe

    A universe is like a closed system, but when you imagine one, you can define its own rules. They may not obey to the rules of our Universe.

    In our own Universe, we do not imagine. We have :ph34r: And I agree with your first statement, as long as Science still support this : The universe in finite in time and space. But remember that it defines our reality. The second is real also, as for Everything equal to or lesser than our universe has a distinct beginning, at least for everything of our universe.

    Here, I'll reintroduce the concepts of Truth and Reality.

    - Reality is what one universe is in its context.

    - Truth is the basis of one Universe.

    For OUR Universe, what is its reality : the existence in our universe, what is here.

    For OUR Universe, what is its truth : We don't, for it being Metauniversal.

    Now,

    For the universe we have created, what is its reality : the existence, what is in that universe. And, what is its truth? For that Universe, we know. It's in my imagination, I played a game for about ten minutes and created a universe to explain my ideas.

    Now, what is that truth, of the imaginated world, regarding our Universe : a part of our Universe's reality. My imagination is part of the Reality of our Universe, so are the ten minutes etc. Only the truth of a subuniverse is bound to the reality of the superuniverse. The reality of the subuniverse can be totally different, as imagination can be.

  8. Thanks to Akya, who I gently call Yukiko-chan, to make me less (or more) shy about it. Well, Black Op, i'll give you a background for that people. And you will see how I introduce them. And there I give an answer to the disparition of the two Ithryl Luin (Blue Wizards) into the east and some special imagination...

    ---

    Quenta Tásavenlierion (Story of The People of Earth and Sea)

    Tawsawwendomdesqoldom

    There are people, on the eastern shores of Endor, who developped during the first and second ages of the Sun. They heard of the Western parts of the world only by the end of the second age, though they did heard from part of their ancestors some stories of Aman and before the ages of the Sun.

    What is known of that people that refers to themselves as Tawsawwendom (which means The people of Earth and Sea) come from the lore that the Ithryn Luin (known there as Thethwendom, Wise People) accumulated among their time in the realms of that people. (They counted only three Thethwen, because never Olorin or Radagast went over the East, though they did have learn of Olorin from Curunir-Saruman)

    WHERE THEY COME FROM

    According to what was known, they were not created as Elves and Men were. They are in descent Mannish, so they are Children of Ilúvatar (Mumdesfatdom) , partially, but they are also part Ainu (Jawwen) , since some of their forfathers were Maiar among the people of Ulmo. Not of Ossë, for he was on the West shores, but others. This caused something bizarre among their life being. Because they were Mannish, they had to live through the Gift of Men (Madosker = Going to Mandos Or Nibwengerzaj = Gift to Men), which they fully wished for and accepted, but they were people of Ainur, so they developped something from that people : They never aged while they were living their lifes, but they did die after passing some 200 years in Arda (Jawtawsaw).

    HOW THEY ARE

    Also, they could live as well on earth as in the sea. They chose to live on earth, but always close to Sawshuwjawen (The God of the Water and Sea, Ulmo). That is why they name themselves Tawsawwendom. The term Mermen would possibly be a good rendering of the concept in Westron but they chose the word Tawsaweeans to represent it. They are friendly with most people of Endor. They have relationship with the Quendi, called by the Westerners Avari, a relationship of honour and respect. They have a lesser good relationship with the Atani (Men) since they became alien to one another and that Men feared both penn-lai and Tasaben-lai. But they did somehow maintain a relationship. With the Dwarves, they had only known them from word, Since there were not a lot of Dwarves where the Tawsaweeans were.

    FIRST AND SECOND AGES OF THE SUN

    They began to exist as a people when Gondolin was beginning its existence. They were with their Men and Ainur parents at that time. When the End of the First Age came, the Ainur left, the last fully men among the people also, so they began to build their first city : Sawtej (City of Sea). They went around where they have been created and developped a hole bunch of autonomus comunities led by a High King. By the end of the Second Age, while in the West there was the Akallabêth, nothing really happened over the Realms of the Sea People. The only thing they felt was a mere wave on their shores.

    THIRD AGE OF THE SUN

    Later on, about 1200 years after the First fall of Sauron and the beginning of the Third Age, they encountered the Ithryn Luin with Saruman. Saruman, after some problems, was kicked out by the Tawsaweeans and Elves of the East Realms (Rekigerthandom). The two Ithryn Luin (Thethwendom) became great sages among the Tawsaweean people. They explained to the people that they were here learn about the Endorean (Tawenthan = Land of the Earthlings, as opposed to Jawenthan = Land of the Powers) people and encourage their lifes. The East Realms began their Golden Age at that time. But Saurons Heralds came in those Far-East countries. The Ithryn Luin with the help of the High King of the Eastshore stopped them before they came closer. The same did the Elven people of the surronding Realms. Some Men befriended with Sauron but they went out of the East Realms.

    At that age, they never had problems with Orc people. Though they knew about their existence from the Elves, never they encountered them before the beginning of the fourth, because they wanted to escape Saurons downfall.

    THEIR POLITICS

    They have a loose federation of communities (Wentej) under an elected High King (Tumzilen), who represents mythologically Ulmo. They know he's not Ulmo and never does the High King claim so. The communities are fully independant, except for the "Protection of the Realms of the Eastshore" which is under the High King's responsability. The High King lives in Sawtej, but each year travels around the Realms and Communities. With Quendi (Binwendom = Tree-people) and Atani (Nibwendom = Grass-People) Chiefs and the Two Istari (Thethwendom = Wise people), the High King holds a Blue Council to discuss of Eastward issues.

    Note that they have the name Kenwendom (Star-people) for the Eldar, but no Eldar was know to have seen a Tawsaweean.

    THEIR MYTHOS

    They honour most Ulmo (Shawshuwjawen) and his people(Shawshuwjawendeswendom), for they, his people, are their wise forfathers. Orome (Thethwenjawen) came also to be revered because of the Istari. They know about Manwe (Fujjawen) and Varda (Kenjawen) and most of the powers (Jawendom), but they don't really call upon their names. They never worship, but they speak to them in open air when they want to.

    P.S. : The words are from my language.

  9. You have been tricked by the Truth/Reality issue.

    REALITY IN CONTEXT, TRUTH DOESN'T NEED

    Reality is in context for me. So, you cannot get out of the Universe to get a glipse of the reality. In the context, in the "little" Universe, the flow of events did began, but in a way different than in our own Universe. You went backwards and forwards to count your years, and there is a (true) middle time, even if it is not real, in context. And the context, in the Universe, (but you and I know that the middle time is the Universe's true beginning) tells you that there is no beginning and there is no ending. The little guy I latter describe experiences this beginningless Universe. For him (for us, it can't), there has always been something before and if there were accounts on the past, they could go as far as one can conceive (infinity).

    THE LITTLE GAME IS A MIND GAME, not an understanding of our reality.

    It is not our reality. That I know, and I never said that my conceived Universe is ours. Ours is different, our reality is different. There was a chain of event that began somewhere that we can look. (Note that our little guy cannot, his Universe, within the bonds of his own reality, being beginningless.) What I conceived within this little game is the little guy's reality. My purpose here was to show how odd my thinkings were and how did I get some answers.

    TWO QUESTIONS, MY ANSWERS

    Why did the chain start? What started the chain itself?

    Those are Metauniversal questions. A purpose (why) is not a cause (how come), even if they look alike. And the purpose is somethning that stands before a cause, and as the first cause looks like to be outside of the world, so is the purpose. The true purpose, we'll never know. For me, Metauniversal things can only be tought to be known (but you'll never be sure, remember the little guy).

    What started the chain? Here's the First cause, and again, I feel it out of the Universe. Let's get back to that infinite universe. There was that middle time, "where" you imagined when you started your universe. But the ultimate cause of that middle time isn't in the Universe, it's you, who is outside the Universe (i.e., your the Metauniversal). And what purpose did you have? Play a game :ph34r: (But playing the game is outside of the Universe...)

    CONTRADICTION, THERE IS AND THERE IS NOT

    In the greater system, having and having not a beginning would (but would is here the word) have been a contradiction if reality would have been the same thing as truth. But, since it is not, we can take them apart. In the truth of the universe of the little game, there is a beginning, there is an end. There is also a limited space, your brain. But it's reality, again, you must consider it as within the Universe. There seems to be no beginning, and no end.

    Take a story. The truth about the world is that it's a story in a book, that it has a beginning and an end. But the book may expand everything to infinity in what the book is describing (i.e. the reality of the book's story) ; it may also not do so.

    IMPLICATION

    What can be said about that kind of system is strange. The reality of the outer is the truth of the inner. The book is real in our world. The book is true in their world. In their world there might be a book. Then, it would be real in their world and true for that book's storyline. And the quest for truth is then endless...

  10. Because of my biological point of view, I voted that the chicken came first.

    Actually, the egg is an external organ of the chicken embryo. Being so, as other organs, the chicken must have at least developped is basic cells before anything else. Note that quite the same happens with the mammal placenta. So the egg is after the chicken.

  11. In Quebec, learning Esperanto in school? Teachers looks at you like your the fooliest person ever!

    I learned by myself, on Internet. It was good and bad at the same time. People say I have a very good Esperanto, but they also say I speak strange (since I use it in my own way, having learned it alone.)

    For sites, there are tons. But the best to do, I think, after learning the basics, is to get used to the ReVo (Reta Vortaro : Web site here) and than read the PMEG ( Plena Manlibro de Esperanta Gramatiko). That is how I learned.

    Then, you may browse through Gxangalo, a big Esperanto Portal. You'll find quite interesting things. And I recommend you visit the Website of your national Esperanto group. I can give you yours if you give me your Country.

  12. I voted other, but my situation is quite complex.

    CHRISTIAN TO AGNOSTIC

    I was baptized when I was 1 year old, as most Catholics are. So, officially, by christian rules, I am to be counted among the Christians. But, I have grown in a laic family, where there were not a lot religion. So I grew to be "Chreaster". Then, I asked myself about religion when I was 11, and I tought to myself that I didn't at all believe what I was tought. So I grew christian atheist (denying a Christian god). Then, I looked for a God, and I couldn't find, but I couldn't assure there were no God, so I became Agnostic.

    This is where it gets to my new beliefs. I lived as if there were only the Universe, with its physical laws. That is being Atheistic Agnostic (as, say, Jean-Paul Sartre). But I was always reading about the Universe's origine, the so-called Big Bang. And I wondered, where does the Big Bang come from?

    THE BIG BANG ISSUE, what changed my beliefs.

    And so I rolled down along time, looking backwards. I imagined the Sun's birth, the masse of the Galaxy, and I finally arrived to the Singularity (in my mind)... But the Singularity has something outside of it (whatever it is, even nothingness). So I took my Greek knowledge and formed a new word to define that "place" : Metauniverse (Beyond the Universe). So then I grew to have that sole belief, I was Metauniversalist.

    THE "UNIVERSAL" GAME

    But I wasn't satisfied by what I had found. Being in our time, I did think that our world, universe may be in a sort of Computer. Then I tried a Game. I'll describe it here for you to play it.

    1. Imagine in your head, conceive, a Universe.

    2. Conceive, in your head, that the Universe that you have just created has no spacial limits. Look "up", there's no border. Look "down", there's no border. Look everywhere, there will be no border ad infinitum.

    Here you have an infinite Universe (in your finite head...)

    3. Conceive, still in your head, that the Universe has no beginning and no ending. Look backwards in time, you'll never see a creation or a Big Bang like thing, only your Universe as it is still. Look forwards in time, you won't see any End, as for a Doom or a Big Crunch or a Big Cold (End by to less heat for the amount of space there is)...

    This is where it gets tricky. You indeed began to imagine the Universe : when you began the game. Your Universe did began some time. But still, your Universe does not have an End, because your thinking conceived that your Universe did not have one! So the Universe has an End, and does not! How could that be possible?

    TRUTH AND REALITY, opposite concepts

    Here is my second belief : Truth and Reality aren't the same. Truth (in Japanese Hontou : The Targeted (see it as the last) Base) is the base : In what you imagined of your Universe, truth is that it had a beggining. Reality (In Japanese Shinjitsu : The Right Fact) is based upon the facts of the system in which you are. So, for the Universe you've created, the Truth is that it had a beginning and the Reality is that it had not a beginning.

    This belief kills and saves Science : It kills it because I can no longer say that it is true, but it saves it because I still can say that it is real. Science is a description and comprehension of reality (Religion aims for Truth).

    KNOWING THE TRUTH

    So know I have distinguished reality and truth. But I wanted to be sure of something : never I'll be sure of the truth of my own Universe. So I imaged still this headlying Universe, and a person in it.

    1. Cast yourself in the Universe (anyhow), go to see the guy (or woman, doesn't bother at all), tell him the truth about his Universe. [it is only a game in my mind, that I have just begun and that I will end soon.] Maybe he would freak out, but let's think he will take it quite normally. Then, there is another person who calls himself Godsend. (Yourself was not God, but a Godsend) He preaches that the truth is that the [World will never end]. It is reality : the Universe will really never end... Who to believe? You or him?

    Here is my third belief : Truth will never be known, always tought, and whether or not it will be believed is a matter of personal choice. In fact, truth is meaningless because it will not be your reality. That is, believing in some truth is like basing one's life on something that you'll never see (and that you know it perfectly).

    TRUTH FALLS, THEN HOW'S REALITY

    Now, we end the little Universal Game and we come back in our own reality. Science describes quite well reality (but it is not necessarly true : it may be thought another way). There are systems. That is the 4th belief : Systems are made of laws, of inner brick and a place to interfere.

    When it is closed, nothing will interfere with it, and it will go by the laws. So is the Universe, being aside of every other thing.

    Now, if we imagine a system, we can predict everything that will occur. FATE in this system is already decided. Now, we have my 5th belief, Universe's Fate is already "written". But it difficult to know Universe's fate. You must know everything about the Universe (laws (true laws... that is, the laws that were defined with the system, not the ones that are real and describes well the Universe.), matter and space) to be able to predict Fate. This being too difficult, we can almost surely say that Fate can't be predicted at all (but part of it can, as Weather can be :ph34r:).

    That is much of my beliefs, after being more a description of reality (Science) than a description of some belief. (But still, Science is somehow a belief, but it's another issue)

    WHAT MY RELIGION IS NOT

    Metauniversal

    It has no god. Even if the game implies that your the God of your world, it's only because that's the way it came. Noone can explain what is outside the Universe : ways may be way different. It's only implies a Metauniversal, that may be not a being. But it doesn't close the door to a god, anyhow he is. It just opens to more possibility.

    I'm already doomed

    It has no Salvation (Fate is already decided) and is more philsophical than anything else.

    No good, no bad

    Not that I never described Good and Bad (there is no sin). It's because there is no absolute Good (as there is an absolute Truth), Goodness depending on a reference point. If God says it bad to kill, it's not because killing is bad, it's because God says so that it is bad (God then becoming that reference point). (Killing is bad for more things, not necessarly theological. I hate murder actually and I will never avenge by killing.)

    Therefore, I don't have to accomplish any rites. I only have to search and think and everything, to know better reality and live out my life knowing this.

    Much more could be said, but I think it's enough for now.

    Here are the 5 beliefs I have. If you have any comment, you can send me a PM or e-mail, or an answer here.

    1. There is something outside the Univers : Metauniverse.

    2. There is reality and truth ; they are not the same.

    3. Truth will never be known. In fact, truth is meaningless, in some way.

    4. Systems are made of laws, of inner brick and a place to interfere. The Universe is a closed system. (It is a belief, because I can't proove this except by showing the concept of Universe)

    5. Universe's Fate is already decided.

    P.S. : Name of my religion? Metauniversalism. ("Transuniversecismo")

  13. Jeru,

    Qol = Speak

    As for what I know, it's my own invention. I don't know a lot about semitic languages, except that most of them use a triconsonantic system. I don't know how I could have known about "qol" or "q-w-l". But it is interesting to know that they look much a like, at list with latin alphabet rendering.

    Because, while you see Qol, the letters aren't pronouced as most would think. Q, in my own language, is pronouced as velar voiced fricative, and not as a uvular unvoiced plosive (as the letter Q is most used for latin transcription). The L is less different, but the sound changes depending on where it is. On a "final" position, meaning that there is no vowel after it, like here, it sound like an alveolar voiced proximant (on unfinal positions, it sounds like a normal French L, alveolar voiced lateral proximant.) Even the o : it is quite open, it is unrounded, pronouced mostly as a Japanese would pronouce it.

    See the IPA full chart : http://www.arts.gla.ac.uk/IPA/fullchart.html

  14. Bizarre topic, but I like it! :D

    And I have not seen anyone using the strangest and most artificial language ever : French!

    MY TWO MAIN LANGUAGES WITH ENGLISH

    (Et je n'ai jamais vu personnne utiliser la langue la plus étrange et la plus artificielle au monde, le français!)

    Moreover, I speak Quebec French, which is somewhat different from France French.

    I only know (poor I am) three languages not so badly. The first is French, being my mother tongue. My second language is English : I never really studied it, I'm not really into English, but I know it because I used to live in that language. My third one is Esperanto : here's a glimpse of what this last paragraph would look like in that language :

    [Mi nur scias (scimalricxa estante) tri lingvojn ne tro malbone. La unua estas franclingvo, estanta mia denaska lingvo. La dua estas anglalingvo : mi neniam ege studis gxin, mi ne tre tion volas, sed mi scias gxin pro tio ke mi kutime vivadis per tiu lingvo. La tria estas Esperantlingvo : jen ekvideton de kio tiu malunua dirajxaro sxajnas cxilingve.]

    BY MY OWN WORDS, I SHALL DESCRIBE THE WORLD

    I am creating a language, but as for now, only some words are quite definitive. Here are some word's in it.

    Taw = Continent (well, that word and the two others don't actually have their perfect translation. Taw the part of the world where one lives on the ground. Everyone that lives on earth, lives on Taw)

    Saw = Ocean (same as the above, but it's now the sea part of the world)

    Jaw = Heaven (same as the above, but it's now the outerspace)

    Taw'saw = The Planet (i.e. Earth and Sea)

    Tasaw = a planet

    Taw'saw'jaw = The Universe (Earth, Sea and Sky)

    Wen = Person

    Wen'dom = People

    Then = Idea

    Then'dom = Ideology

    Than = Country

    Sil = Straight

    Silen = Master

    Zilen = King

    Zil = Law

    Qol = Speak

    Qem = Victory

    Ker = Go

    Rek = Come

    Kerek = Travel (i.e. Ker'rek = Go and Come)

    Reker = Visit (i.e Rek'ker = Come and Go)

    (Note that every word is in a pattern C-V-(C-V...)-C and that you can freely combinate them to form a new word : Zilen'then = Kingship, the main idea being the last part of the new word. There is a name for the Language : Then'qol (Speak of Idea) and there is a possible word for language (but I think it won't be the best word for it) : Theqol. - For grammar, I think it will work like Inuktitut : A word for a sentence.)

    NIHONGO (Japanese)

    I'm also learning Japanese (I wan't to make my third best known earth tongue, after French and Esperanto, and before English, so I'll have to work hard on it.) which I quite like.

    "Soredemo, nihongo wo benkyou sh-te imasu. Eigo yori sanbanme no gengo ni nihongo wa shimasu. Sou sh-te, ganbaranakereba dekimasen. Nihongo ga mottomo suki da kara."

    P.S. : sh-te is supposed to be written as s h i t e. It is one of the most useful words in Japanese, and I connot even write it... :D:ph34r:

    (I didn't look in a dictionnary to write this word, and I would have easily written it with the computer program to write in Japanese that I have.)

    TOLCIENEVA LAMBION (About the languages of Tolkien)

    Recently, I have discovered Ardalambion, about the languages that Tolkien invented. That site I really liked. Especially the Quenya course, that I intend to follow someday (but I think I'll rather print it and take it with me since I'll be fully in my Japanese learning for the next years. And Quenya doesn't seem so difficult (you just have to get the trick and feeling).)

    MY NAME

    Well, Yiuel isn't my real name (it just comes from UL, my initials, the U as English, the L as French). My first name is Ugo, which is the Italian form of the name Hugh (Hugo in German, Hugues in French). It is said to come from Old German.

    The meaning is : Intelligence. I'm never sure if it is the character or the characteristic. I was tought the second, but most of the time I come across the first. I also gave myself a Japanese name, Tama, which is the litteral translation of my first name (and the meaning is both the character and the caracteristic!)
