Problem is, I doubt anybody has that extensive a family tree lying around - Everyone would select unknown.
-
It would be cool if you could enter any old resolution like you can in Glest. I really loved that game filling up my larger-than-normal (though not massive) screen.
-
Yes by W3 I do mean Warcraft III.
-
if a player choses not to have weather in a multiplayer, then it would affect all the players.
Well, duh.
It should also be one of those settings only the host decides.
EDIT: Or what if players get to vote on the settings of the game, and if it's a tie, then the host chooses or it's randomized?
-
good idea - Someone please make a new thread with "unknown" in the poll!
-
It's just terrain that's made to look like the black area off the map. So, effectively, it's nothing.
-
It's a bit hard to see what unit's what in the battle, but great shot nonetheless...
-
Probably not, though it wouldn't hurt to have "barrier" terrain like in W3 (I think that's what they call it).

It'd be cool, catering to the more fussy players
-
Individually, though the option to train lots at a time has been considered.
-
Or perhaps that's a setting you can choose for an individual game?
-
That's another agreeable statement. They'd have infinite use for custom scenarios. However, I don't think they should be createable in random map gameplay.
-
Ok, my idea was a bit insane.
However, you can't go wrong with a good old diamond-shaped map.
-
agreed. The Romans were so successful in their time because of their organization and machine-like efficiency
-
Then fall over and pass out
Especially if you often play as Romans.
-
Coooooooooooooooooooooool
-
And have THAT affect gameplay too?

Maybe you don't know how we are using "sub-factions" in this game. Imagine the game "Age of Mythology." You know how you get a choice of a "minor god" when you advance an age? Well, in 0 A.D., when you play a cartain faction and advance to the last city phase you get a choice between sub-factions. Each sub-faction has different heroes, super units, ans special technologies. So, for instance, the Celts: You have the standard Celtic units available until the City Phase, where you are then allowed to choose between Brtions or Gauls sub-factions (each with different Super Units, Heroes, and Special Techs).
Are you talking to me or Fionn here? Either way, I understood this concept. Just like the Gauls and Hellenes in Pt I, right?
-
Weather's something that IMO simply MUST be included in random maps.
-
I like the idea of all the germanics being sub-factions
-
From what I've seen, the celt units are mostly shirtless, but not all.
-
I'd probably like irregularly-shaped maps. Just like a random blob of terrain.
-
Take Theocracy, for example. It's a great game, on a massive scale (possible to have thousands of units at any one time), but it takes so long to learn to play effectively because it is so micro-intensive. Good thing it's one of those "do your actions and let time run" games

Gets a bit complicated and confusing for my tastes, though.
