By the looks of the game, the hoplite's spears seem too short to give any significant bonus vs. cavalry, compared to pikes and the like.

Agreed, but I would only want fine-tuning such as this to be implemented after the game is out, in order to not slow release time even further.

If you don't dominate the seas, your opponent is free to settle possibly resoure-filled islands, and to land troops where you least anticipate it.

How on Earth can ONE person churn out so many units? If you were on the 0 AD team, it would probably be on its third major update of part II by now (No offense intended towards the 0 AD team). Anyways, how are you gonna organise the eras each of these factions are from? Is it gonna be Empire Earth style, or have various "sub-games" like 0 AD (Part I and II)? Are you gonna release this for free (*pleads*) on the internet?
EDIT: Have you done any other sort of stuff yet? (eg. siege weapons, ships, buildings). If so, could you give us a peek?
EDIT2: Just noticed that the first animation in the topic post throws a pilum AND fights with a sword. Good on ya!

Can't you make it so they get covered in stuff depending on what terrain they're on? Like snow covers buildings in AoK?

The Spartans. I don't say that because of the 300 movie, either (I didn't see it). I mean, they were raised from childbirth to become warriors (well, the guys, at least).

Wow! First post! I never get those!
A couple of things I've noticed at a glance:
-Why is Hannibal attacking when he's clearly outnumbered?
-The buildings (looking good BTW) look too "clean" compared to the pavement they're built on. Perhaps you could add some moss or something to the texture?
Other than that, yet another amazing screen!

I see seaweed (washed up ), awesome whales, nice moss on the cliffs, a type of ship we haven't seen before (thanks for a secon naval scene, guys!), wet sand (thanks for pointing that one out Hiram!) and beautiful shadows on the ships (thanks TheCobra!).
Overall, you guys at WFG continue to astound me. Each time I can't imagine it getting ANY better, but you guys just prove me wrong every month!.

Now for 2 nitpicks:
The "human" part of the trader unit looks like he's floating.
I don't like the "gold" parts on Boudicca's chariot.
Still, I'd download the game right now if I could! Once again - AWESOME!

good point. I LOVE TURTLING! It's really fun to have, like, a set of thin outer walls, the double thickness middle walls, then triple inner walls! Even if you lose doing this, it's still fun seeing how long it takes for them to get through your walls!

Well, I will take it seriously - Even if your opponent can defend from your rush, they will still be a bit pissed off when they see that your attacks never cease.

Rushing also puts "mental pressure" on your opponent, so it makes a difference if you manage to destroy his/her confidence.
