Since the princess has an escort solder, I added a second tent, so to not anger her new husband when they arrive and he only sees one tent.

I sadly can't find a tent with bigger footprint, probably have to customize current camp and drop the palisades around it. Sadly, the wagon takes the spot for the romantic fire, maybe drop a bamboo tree too. I probably shouldn't snatch a Xiongnu tent, but would be easy to adopt the royal yurt without wagon.

Yeah, nomad would start with princess, who marries another nomad and take over. I think this would have to be play tested intensively before removing the CC and fortified CC build option. See a problem with Ai eventually.

The princess tent is a mini CC already. I had similar thought, only starting CC maybe? The princess can only set up a tent/camp in allied or enemy territory. Am it has small footprint, but could be like this, and bigger footprint, upgradable to real CC ....

Yes, I just wanted to have the princess to serve a purpose if no ally is around. The tent could also be a princess camp, which upgrades to CC, maybe only means to expand?

Depending how you look at it, the marriage alliances can be part of a war strategy. The princess moves to the ally, after he asks for stone, he gets a princess who sets up her tent. I am thinking about giving her an upkeep aura in enemy territory. @Stan The CheckPlacementRestrictions in entity upgrade isn't a boolean? It throws errors with bool. How to use it? http://docs.wildfiregames.com/entity-docs/trunk.html#component.Upgrade

The marriage diplomacy can be a wildcard. A bit like they send only "the best of the best" to Brussels only to have them away at home. Could annoy a Xiongnu warlord, if you sent him a mother in law that drives him nuts. The Mauryan could have a unit that gifts the enemy a white elephant.

Would be pretty nice if diplomacy was modifiable via a tech or aura, like diplomatic status etc. Or funnel enemy resources to yours. I haven't solved the territory restriction with the princess yet, only with the tent. Her tent has two auras, one effecting ally, the other enemy units, it can produce female citizens and a new princess.

Yes, I think its best the princes simply steals territory, enemy or ally. maybe some naughty aura that lets arrows miss the tent, make it only to capture by the enemy. Who would want to kill a beauty?

I could pretty much go for a tower strategy in enemy territory, it's tier2. I went for the princess upgrading to a tent in neutral or enemy territory atm, it has root territory, kind of princess siege tent. I seriously consider if its possible the princess can only be attacked/killed by female citizens or warriors. Idea is cloud the minds of the enemy males with her.

What's the view on introducing a new very special unit, the Han princess, that can only be built max 1? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heqin Just not sure yet what diplomatic havoc the princess is gonna wreak, and how the mechanics gonna work. Edit: some ideas * the princess transforms in enemy territory into a small building with small territory that can't be attacked by male soldiers, because she is so beautiful * the princess establishes an alliance if diplomatic status is neutral * the princess works somewhat similar to a trader, ie establishing a route between player buildings * the princess somehow garrisons an enemy house for example, ie takes it over (for some time) * the princess could have mirages for undercover missions * the princess spawns a gaia Xiongnu wildcard
  12. Well, I would put more importance on differentiation and depth instead of balancing. Once you have unique factions, it may be easier to balance than the current approach with many factions and too similar units and function of buildings. Iirc, it was the worker you could capture with an archon, ie only Protos had this ability, and only a special unit.
  13. The earlier example with the Han Barracks would be such a case. In theory, I haven't tested, the only other civ with access to crossbow is Macedonians who could build crossbowmen. The Ji/Halberd is unique to Han only. So capturing a Han barracks would give access to 2 unique units no other faction has. Acquiring tech by capturing enemy building has been a standard feature in Warcraft and Starcraft. Can make interesting games with surprises, granted the factions are unique. I like the idea to have that in 0AD.
  14. @wowgetoffyourcellphone Imagine, you give a Han princess to the Xiongnu to stop their raids, and direct their Warlords to raid an adversary. True historic accuracy. The Han barracks would certainly be a valuable target to capture with 2 unique Han citizen units, Crossbow and Ji.

Just quickly going over the code, I think lists don't support object items atm. This would require me to have class docs to implement, if I don't want to anger a female citizen at home who hates so much time spent on the computer.

@Silier I s there some gui class doc so I could eventually try to implement a scrolling for the TrainerSection? This one seems outdated?

Ok, update on unit roster; I made a branch that makes spear infantry and cavalry upgradable to halberd(Ji). The upgrades increase in cost depending on the rank. https://github.com/0ADMods/han_china/tree/spear-upgrades I would prefer this solution, but simply removing selected units is also an option, the upgrade solution gives a slight problem with the game UI ...

Great, I think this needs to be a ticket on your phab. The trickle is my approach to implement corruption.

@Stan I dunno who to ping for that, I spotted in the svn tree changes with rounding. I would have another such example. Atm, the ministry has a 0.1 tickle, each of the max 9 ministers adds a further 0.1 tickle, so it is max 1. The 1 is never shown, but a precicion float approximating 1.

Maybe @Stan has an idea with that projectile prop. Triggers a slight problem as is, the halberd units are atm tier2. If I remove the spear cav, make halb tier1 and starting unit, or no cav starting units at all, and more starting infantry instead? Or, different approach, make spear units upgradable to halberd?

If rice is the default, I can set rice. Is rice a done deal? I think so? If all in agreement, I fix this.
