  1. I doubt an Elf would have tortured a captured Orc, but the Orc definitely couldn't expect mercy either.

Morgoth was basically tricking them into not surrendering, so they could fight to the death. And probably for other reasons.

  2. The Mountain Orcs are already and listed as a non-player race on the civilazations page. They will start of with good relations with Mordor and other evil civs but you cannot control them.

Search indepent races and player races and it will go more in depth on how it works.

  3. All of the units I listed are in the unit list on the main site. And are featured in the books.

And, as you said if you need infantry to counter calvary, and all you get is swordsman, well thats the only option you would have gotten with the old unit list on the site.

Orcs are relatively cheap so its not much of a waste considering that you can just make two more for each one lost, and overwhelm the enemy with numbers, which the orcs had and used to their advantage.

Perhaps each unit can switch between weapons, but it's a random pair of weapons, Axe spear, sword mace, spear sword etc...

  4. Companies I think give higher morale, and expeirnce is gained in companies. There are also upgrades that benefit companies and not individual soldeirs.

Orcs do have alot of units, the Hunter that can capture other civs units, the standard warrior, archer, captain, warg rider, trolls, along with siege weapons and a few others. Just about as much as the other races.

I think it would be better to have randomized weapons for the orc warriors, since there would be alot less micro involved, and along with the random armor and props, it would give the Orcs a more horde like feeling.

  5. Thread idea taken from 0ad

Well, who will you play as first, in the random map part of the game? (or if were lucky multiplayer) Not counting the campaigns that will be released in chunks before the entire game.

For me, deffinatly the Forces of Evil, probably in the 3rd age. Second would most likely be the Dwarves, not sure what age though.

  6. Well what do you expect from EA ;)

Deacon, a company is a group of soldeirs, the number of troops varies depending on how many you want in the company. You need a captain and flag carrier in the group in order to from a company.

I always pictured a company at around 20-30 units.

But say you switched modes with the soldiers, what would be the point of building any other type of unit if it can switch between, archer, sword etc....

  7. What will the weapon switches be? Sword and bow, or a different combination, and is it player or AI controlled, or both?

And are company fomrations still in, one of my favorite features in the game.

  8. Just wondering how up to date the unit list is in the features section. Doesn't seem like it would be too off now but I suspect it probably has changed a little.

Came up with an idea for the Orc Swordsman, if its still that.

Instead of calling it a swordsman and limiting it to a scimatar, why not change the name to Orc Warrior, or something similar, and give them randomized weapons. The orcs weren't the most organized or standarized army,(though they were to some extent)

Along with the randomized armor they could have a spear, axe, or scimatar, with certain stats attributed to each weapon, axe has better hack damage than spear etc... The Orcs did prefer most weapons so long as they were ugly to look at.

It would make the Forces of Darkness feel more horde like, and a company (still in game right?) of Swordsman/Warriors with different weapons could be a well balanced and effective force against different types of units.

Just some random thoughts I had on the game.

  9. Anyone here ever play that game? It's basically an RPG with no story line, you can just wander around the map fighting bandits and other enemies, and raise a war party of your own.

Combat system is great, and addictive. The camera is in third person and where you turn the camera depends what way you swing the blade, can slash side to side, go overhead, or pig stick 'em.

    Website

    www.taleworlds.com

They have a trial, its the full game but you can only get to level 6

  10. lol I got a whole army of those type of icons now my friend tongue.gif Humpy is no longer alone in the world!!!!! BWAHAHAHHA!

    O noes!....not more

  11. @Thumbs, sorry I haven't been around - my Mom passed away about a month ago, been really hectic and I haven't been in the mood for much. Just recently got my motivation for designing and writing back again, and I don't care to work on WW2 stuff at the moment. Sorry, very much in a swords and sorcery mood.

Sorry to hear that, not much else I can say

Hell, we might be on the same team again...I was begining to miss the humpy icon :P

What did you apply for design and essayist?

  12. This thread is for asking questions about the beta toph. :P

To answer your question though, I think you mean whats the population cap, it's somwhere between 100-150 I think, could change though.

Or do you mean how many units you can make with a single building at a time? I'll assume there is a building queue but it trains one unit at a time.

  13. It's been pretty dead around here lately, any news on how the game is coming through? Hasn't been an update in while, not even new concept art or anything.

Forums arent what they used to be, barely anyone posts anything anymore, where limited to only a few members that still post. We need to bring the forums back to their former glory. I don't know, its just gotten pretty boring now.

  14. I saw that video not to long ago, and then I watched it like 5 more times, becuase its just that awesome.

Made by the same people who made the inro to Dawn of War (another awesome intro), Blur Studios. I hear they are making one for Company of Heros, and hopefuly for the second Dawn of War x-pack, Dark Crusade.

Oh yea, i'm deffinatley getting this game when it comes out, looks kinda like the Total War series, but with Warhammer.

  15. Favorites....hmmm, for rifles probably the Mosin, Kar98 (dont know how great they were performance wise) Might get a Mosin soon :) Automatics, DP-28 just looks so cool, BAR is also pretty sexy, my favorites tend to vary though.

The AK-47 is actually very different from the MP 44, they look alike but the way they work etc.. is different. The guy who designed the AK (forgot his name) said this. someone else can elaborate.

Favorites tank wise, KV-2 for a heavy tank, yes I know it was unreliable, with a huge unweildly turret, but in the beginning of the war the only thing that could stop it was the 88mm.

Never really picked favorites, I like them all.

  16. Leningrad should be more accurate and probably better than Enemy at the Gates since its being made by Russians.

Fallujah, when I was googling info on it I found a website with a petition to stop the movie because something about how we broke the geneva convntion, shot ambulances, killed random people, and denied them water and food :)

Read up some info on FoOF, supposed to focus on the flag raisers after the war and what war is really like, so should be a good movie

  17. A movie on Leningrad! Need to find more info, now! same with Flags of our Fathers (hopefully not like windtalkers though)

Just googled info on Leningrad, I should've known, its a love story :) ...just had to ruin an interesting topic

hopefully the same cant be siad for Falluhjah and Flags of our Fathers
