  1. I am on a Geforce PCX 5750.

The weird thing is that all games, graphics, websites, etc. display correctly. Just not videos in WinAmp (got no other media player to try if it is messed up there too). However, updating WinAmp didn't work either.

  2. Here are a few more tips from me too - Klaas mentioned the core already. :D

    * Use the dodge, smudge and blur tool. If something doesn't blend quite correctly, then the usage of one or more of these tools can make it look alright.

    * Usage of photographs. If you are not quite professional and can make header design from scratch without using any 3rd party image, using photographs is the way to go. Simply sort out 3 photographs you like, put each in a layer, play a bit with hue/saturation and contrast (very important!) and transparency. You basically can't do anything wrong there.

    * Experimentation. It's really down to that. You have to play with things, really long sometimes. In the end you will make it look alright.

    * Bookmarks. Bookmark all sites you come across. I have a folder "Webdesign Inspirations" where you can find basically 200 or 300 layouts. Most are direct links to layout from zen garden or cssvault. But others I stumble across when doing a search for my mom for example I always put there. Before doing any web or graphics design I take 3 or 4 of them, check what I like about them and combine those components to create my own out of it. Same goes for graphic design and photoshop resources.

    * Understanding of Color Theory. You should really learn it - it's important to understand what monocromatic, complementary, etc. means.

And last but not least, if you really run out of ideas of what colors you should use, try this tool. It's proven to be one of the handiest tools ever for me. -> http://wellstyled.com/tools/colorscheme2/index-en.html#

    Hope that helped.
