Well, if it makes you feel any better, I am about 80% done with the writing the Greek arms and armor article. Then I have some sketches and that should be up. BTW, the Greek article is over 3000 words atm

It seemed to be a mixture of footage and CGI, but the CGI is so good it was very hard to tell who was real and who wasn't. The vistas that could be seen were really something, IMHO

Did anyone watch Ancient Egyptians on TLC last night (Monday) and Sunday? The first episode on the Battle of Megiddo was MINDBLOWNG!!!! When they had the armies lined up against eachother I was totally convinced I was there, plus when the Egyptians and Syrians charged at eachother with that huge panoramic aerial view of the battlefield I started wondering "This is a documentary and not LoTR?!" It has to be the best battle recreation I have seen outside of the cinema, just thousands of guys in several shots. The reenacting for all of the episodes was just superb, the best I have ever seen!
If it comes on again and you missed it, watch it, you'll be blown away!

I would love to make the exact same thing, except a 3rd Person Swordsman, sort of like LoTR: TTT VG. That would be awesome going up against Celts and Macedonians as a legionnaire! -
For me it would be Warrior Challenge, the Roman episode where they got all dressed up in lorica segmentata, swung gladii, and marched in formation

Seriously, I would also like to be someone reassuring to the leader but powerful in their own right, like Legolas or Azem from Robin Hood Prince of Thieves.

I have been watching this movie for a while and am really eager to see it That stinks that RoTK has a bit of a fight on its hands though....but from the reviews coming out, it may not be as bad as we think BTW, how gory is it? I liked Gladiator's gore level, but from what I've read on Screenit.com and moviesforguys.com, it doesn't seem that bad.... am I wrong? If Gladiator is 5 (on a scale of 10), where is Last Samurai?

Gladiator is one of the best movies ever and I just love it (although those helmet's the legionnaires wear in the battle are a fantasy mix of styles ......... plus the Praetorian's armor ). The movie has it all: action, good story, action, great visuals, and action. One thing that is a bit crazy is the Emperor going one-on-one with Maximus.....just too cliched. Mind you I believe I read somewhere that Commodus was a bit of a maveric and took part in 300 gladiator fights, but I may be wrong. Yeah historically its crazy, but its also crazy fun.

I will probably be updating the article as well. For instance I might do the Intercisa and Agen helmets (maybe) in future, and possibly lamellar armor as well. But atm this all conjectural, have Greeks to do

My latest article, titled "Roman Iron - Equipment of the Legions" is up on the 0 AD site. It has info on some of the many different pieces of military equipment that the Romans used, including dates, data, and pictures. My plan is to complete a series of similar articles on all the civs in 0 AD
