TLA has bridges - You can build wooden, stone, or fortified bridges. To build them, you place a foundation on one bank, then one on another, and the bridge gets built between them. There is a maximum bridge length and a set width for each bridge.

Interesting article. As I recall there were also giant badgers and bears back then as well.
