Okay, so we want to use the Cretan archer instead? That'll be nice, becuase I believe the Athenians already have it.
-
So, a better reference? Unfortunately, most of the reference pictures that aren't Rome I mods are of Roman auxiliaries. EDIT: it seems to me that if we just give it a combination of middle eastern/ hellenistic armour that we already have, it'll be fine.

The most famous depection of the hellenistic heliopolis.
-
The Seleucids were famous for their use of the cataphractine elephant.
-
Both of these work for the Arabian Tribal Skirmisher. This is the most popular depiction of the Seleucid scythed chariot.
-
Roman auxilirary Syrian archer, but the next one would be more Seleucid.
-
This is a light tarantine cavalryman. The elite version should have a linothorax.

Absolutely gorgeous! Is there anything I can do to help put this in action? Great work, I'm so impressed!

Sorry for being a pit pushy and pesky. I'm just trying to throw ideas on the table for developers to pick and choose. I apologize.

wait, what? Sorry, I don't understand,

Slightly off topic: Is is just me, or do the Seleucids share an obsurd amount of units with Persia (yeah I know, only 2, maybe 3, but that is a lot) What about replacing the Seleucid peltast with the semi-famous Seleucid heavy peltast. They were famous for being part of the Seleucid empire's reforms. They looked basically like Thureosophoros, but they were very heavy skirmishers. Slower, but harder to kill. Edit: p.s. The newest model looks great, but I do agree, the UVs on the new models need work.

Well, I just redesigned it based off of the Official faction description. But who's to see it can't be made better? Yes! It just keeps getting better and better!
-
Carthaginian champion cav has the beginning of the horse armour. The chamfron would also be useful (the plumed cav helmet)
-
After the cataphract is finished, the next undertaking will be updating the chariot. Then, we might consider the possibility of adding the Tarantine cavalry to the military colony, as a heavier ranged cav, truly making the Seleucids an "excellent cav" faction, as the faction's description page suggests.

Well, for the animation/modeling, all that would be needed is to elongate the spear (possibly use a pike prop), make a resting animation for the human of the spear resting on the shoulder, and for attacking, it might be possible to cobble the torso animation from a pikeman attack, with the leg position of the horse riding. As for the armour, I'm sorry, I don't know. I'll get back to you on that, if there is any.
-
Hey, quick question: as wowgetoffyourcellphone stated, is it possible to give it a two handed animation? Or is that too much work? Edit: and armor on the horse? Sorry for leaving out that detail.
-
YEAH! Nailed it! What do you guys think?
-
Makes sense.

Wait, where do you add mercs in vanilla? P.s. the Median cav are techniquement mercs as well
-
Sele cataphract: head_hele_b mace_su 1 hypaspist 1 keep the weapon no shield.

What would count as "proper" it is said (on Wikipedia and other sources) that the Seleucids used hellenistic merc cav. The Tarantine cavalry from Tarentum were famous cav mercs and where used by all greek and hellenistic factions sans the Ptolemaics. I think it would just diversify and hellinize the Seleucids more, instead of using an exact copy of a persian unit. While the Seleucids did use Median cav, Tarantine cav would make it more diverse.
-
Do I have developers' support in suggesting Tarantine cavalry as a replacement for the Median cavalry?
-
I will get these to you tomorrow.
-
Yeah, I am trying to suggest changes that would actually be in the game. We've reached a common consensus that the cataphract model needs to be updated, and I have come up with a garb that matches history and the faction's page, I just need someone to either make it, or help me make it. We habe also decided that the chariot needs to ne updated as well, and I have proposed a more Greek replacement for the Median cav. I meant this topic to actually help the developers finish the Seleucids.

Is there a place where I can learn to assemble a unit?
