  1. Nope, Napoleonic Wars were in the 19th century.
  2. When a building is attacked, the units garrisoning the building will be damaged first. At least, that is how the game is designed. I think this issue was thought of years ago, even before I joined the team.
  3. Here's how it will most likely pan out: We will probably go the AOM route where the building as a whole starts to look damaged (fire, charred, soot, cracks, busted doorways maybe), but we won't go the way of AOEIII where bits and pieces fall off due to physics. I know the game engine will be extremely modular and who knows what kind of features skillful modders and modding teams will be able to add in this area.
  4. Whether or not we add non-playable civs, it will be ridiculously easy for a modding team to do it after we ship the game.
  5. Yeah, too much micro with Alex's idea. However, we do have gaia horses and some civs can capture horses and corral them, giving cavalry bonuses, much like a "relic" from the "Age of..." series, specifically like "Age of Mythology". We liked the "relic" gameplay feature, but implemented it into the game design in a way to better represent historical fact.
  6. We are proud to release the April Screenshot, entitled, "Iberian Defense". This is the debut of actual Iberian units fighting in the game engine. Click the preview below to view! Check out the Screenshot Gallery for all of our past screenshots! And don't forget to leave a comment!
  7. It's Monday, 24 March, around 8PM GMT... MSN Messenger won't log in. Anyone else having this problem?
  8. My feedback is only from your screenshot there, as I can't open Max 8 files (I have Max 6). It would also be good to gradate the red color on the apples a bit. The color is too solid right now. Go ahead and give them a highlight.
  9. My feedback would be it looks like the branch foliage is a bit too jumbled together. I'd try spacing the branches out a bit so they will have room to cast some self-shadowing on each other in the game engine to give that faux "3D" look.
  10. Side note: One thing everyone has to stop doing is committing the thumbnail.db files with their stuff, myself included. It causes problems. When updating.
  11. You can't click past the error apparently? I get a DLL error as well, but can click the Open button and get past it.
  12. I am utilizing 3DSMax 6 and the reference file opens for me. There are a few error dialogues, mostly for missing textures, but I can click past them. The meshes load just fine, fortunately.
  13. Hmmm, I think they are supposed to be 2 separate textures, as they are two separate meshes propped together. I'll let Bobbo or Jason confirm. I like the "blooming" leaf texture for sure though. Good work so far. I think you have the general direction down pretty good.
  14. Yeah, haha. True. I personally like Daylight Savings Time. It makes Summer much more fun - more daylight time in the evening. It really is a marked difference in the amount of sunlight one experiences, because no matter what season it is, I usually wake up after sunrise.
  15. Today, March 9th, is Daylight Savings Time in U.S.A. and Canada! Everybody "Spring Forward" one hour if you haven't done so already.
  16. Hi Brand. Have you installed SVN and performed an SVN Checkout for the EWU tasks?
  17. A cool idea would be to have "war zones" where players may only attack each other in these areas. A warzone could be proposed by a player and the enemy player could agree or disagree. So for instance, a warzone could be a mining area or maybe even a nice open field where both players can agree to a set-piece battle. But alas, I doubt he'll implement something like that.
  18. We've released a brand new showcase for March titled simply, "Resources." It is a small showcase that gives the basics for the game's resource system. Future Showcases will go into more depth on each type of resource, but for now check out the latest we have to offer by clicking below!
  19. There Will Be Milkshakes... Daniel-Day Lewis http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wl0GznCEHTk All kinds of milkshaky fun! And here's the original scene from the movie, "There Will Be Blood". It is widely accepted as one of the greatest movies made in the past 20 years, certainly since Godfather Part 2. This is the climactic scene between the movie's two antagonists, a preacher and an oil man. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q12ooJDPrjg&feature=related
