If I had time I would write a real Strategy Guide in classic book form (PDF of course).

Its possibly even have a flying elephant , this game is very modable.
I want share some Roman heavy Infantry here.
For Imperial Romans, this will be the elite Swordsman rank (plus front to back crest on helmet). Advanced will have segmentata, but no manacles, greaves, or crest. Basic will wear chainmail and a bronze version of the Gallic helmet.

That's all fine and dandy what Strabo and Caesar and the ancients said. But what does modern scholarship say?

Another good video from Sergui:

This sounds cool yet broken. If it can be balanced without feeling dumb, I'm all for it.
I could envision giving the Horse Archer reduced hitpoints and/or armor to balance. Basically, a very good harasser, but pretty much melts under the lightest heat.

The Achaemenids were quite settled by the time of Cyrus.

I could see sharks attacking fishing boats, but they wouldn't use a leaping technique like what they do to catch seals. lol

Agreed with this. At the definitely were used more by the Persians than the Seleucids than now have them.
I was thinking of giving the Achaemenids a Scythian Horse Archer as a Champion unit. Maybe give them War Elephants too, but perhaps with a train limit (say, 10 or something). That reminds me, I need to change the civ naming schema. (pers->achae, rome->romerep, so we can have other Persian and Roman civs later).

Can they be made a bit smaller?
Otherwise, nice work!
This might actually be realistic size!
Though, 2 size variations, male and female, would be nice.

Guys, the SVN version those that always auto-update when there is a new version or do you need to update it manually?.
SVN version needs to be manually updated.

I think laptops would have better resale value, but maybe I'm wrong. Laptops are harder to upgrade after all. Desktops are easier to resell piecemeal (you can part it out if you need to).
I'm pretty sure that laptop I linked to would perform just about every single thing you wanted it to do, besides clean your bathroom for you.
For a desktop, do you just need the tower, or do you need a monitor, keyboard, etc. too? If you just want to buy the tower, then you can get a super nice one for $1200, definitely.

Lion: Are you insisting on a desktop? Laptops are quite powerful nowadays. I am currently developing and playing 0 A.D. on a new laptop I bought this past Summer. I couldn't be happier (except it isn't 1080p, only 900p, but that's okay).
This is what I bought for $740: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834314004
- Intel Core i5 3230M(2.60GHz)
- 6GB Memory 750GB HDD
- NVIDIA GeForce GT 730M
- 1600 x 900
- Windows 8
This right here would KNOCK YOUR SOCKS OFF (but it's $1600): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=34-152-444&cm_sp=Cat_GamingNotebooks-_-YTVideo-_-YT83-220-464
- Intel Core i7 4700HQ(2.40GHz)
- 16GB Memory 750GB HDD 128GB SSD
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 765M
- 1920 x 1080
- Windows 8
How much denarii do you have to spend? Also, Windows 8.1 is an excellent operating system. They've re-implemented the start button (which was my main complaint) and I've gotten used to the start screen (though the old Windows 7 start menu is still better).

Also make sure 0 A.D. is allowed in your firewall.

They'd look really good with some normal maps.

"Pros polemon!" is one which means "To war!"

the persian champion calvary is a catafract??, i see it very protected as a cataphract, and with same appereance of seleucid catafract, for this reason i ask it
They only use the same actor for now as a placeholder. Eventually the Seleucid cataphract will get its own actor and textures and props.

Crocodiles (and Hippopotamuses) are a must-have for Egyptian and African maps. I wish we would have gotten those in for A15. Oh well, A16 it is!

That's something for a separate topic IMO (and another ticket ).
Those graphs are cool when you're playing with friends, cause you can say "Look, this is when I raided your village, look how your income rapidly went down! Mwahahahahaha!"
I'm not sure what are we arguing about, it was on a "nice to have" list after all.
I definitely think we should have a summary screen. I'm personally just wanting the presentation to be top notch and relevant to what happened to the game. It should actually summarize what happened (as well as give the myriad of stats some people enjoy). I really like Lion's initial idea and then my addendum to it to have the game assess the player's strategy and break it down, perhaps in percentages, what each player was trying to accomplish.
So, e.g., a 'Strategy' tab:
Player Faction Rush Boom Turtle .... Mythos_Ruler Macedonians 20% 35% 10% .... 100%
And each category would weigh the stats differently. For instance, "Turtle" category would weigh number of wall segments and defense towers, while "Rush" heavily weighs the severity of attacks within the first 10 minutes. We'd just need to decide on a number of categories and come up with the stats each one would weigh.

I think we could leave the "sword clang" sounds to the individual units. But for a "battle loop" we could have the general "cheering and grunting" and vocal cacophony.
