  2. I've increased their armor a little bit to compensate. The real strength of the Gaesata is in raiding and quick strikes. They are quicker than other champion spearmen for this purposes. They also are good against even ranged cavalry since they can catch them easier than more heavily armored spearmen. You just need to use them differently than other spearmen. :) They were never meant to be front-line meat shield-style troops. (y)

  3. I'd prefer changing the cloth in other buildings (since there's not overused except in the blacksmith) to these new ones, which IMO look much better.

I think the white ones look better for better contrast with all the beige walls, while the 'new' ones used on the market just look too much like leather or something (they don't look like cloth) and are almost exactly the same color as the walls, offering less contrast. Just my opinion. Do with it as you will. (y)

  4. k, great. Would you like to become an "official" part of the team or just remain a "contributor"? Becoming an "official" team member gives you access to our super secret discussions and brawls and backstabbings behind the scenes and allows you a voice in the discussions, but considering your help might not be needed very often you might just want to remain a contributor. Up to you how "involved" you'd like to be.

  5. I really enjoyed your voice overs. (I found your pronunciation of the word "corral" to be odd, but maybe that is how Brits pronounce it? It's a minor quibble, regardless.)

How long or how much do you think you'll be available? I ask, because sometimes there will be very long stretches of time when we do not need you, and then we might need your services a bunch right before an alpha release. Is this kind of "punctuated" schedule okay with you? It's the same with our video editor BrynnOfCastlegate, whose services are top notch and valuable, but nonetheless often only needed every 2-3 months. I couldn't imagine requiring any more than 2 or 4 hours of your time when the time comes, since we'd only have you make your recordings once the text for the videos are finalized.

  6. Slightly out of topic, but is some nerf for garrisoned ships planned? Their firepower is extremely powerful currently, imo they shouldn't be that much more powerful than ungarrisoned ones. Also naval warfare overall. As the Iberians I had no chance to land on a fortified, protected by navy, island, no overpowered garrisoned arrowships for them. So if those don't get nerfed, Iberians will need one as well. They also need a ship with bigger transport capacity anyway.

Besides that, garrisoned buildings are the same way of overpowered as well. Less of a trouble as they are immobile, but still the most successful tactic (and hard to beat as many civs) seems to be forward building garrisoned forts. The only other viable (and overpowered as well) tactic is mass ranged units, but this is going to be fixed I believe for the next alpha.

If you look at AOE/AOM garrisons add many times less firepower, and for a good reason.

Currently in SVN only ranged infantry add firepower to ships. I also just now changed it so that it is now the same for towers and fortresses. We can see how that works out.
  7. Yeah while it is interesting to get troops from different sources other than training, this way is specially tricky to balance and for me it can't balance at all. Even if you have something like that exactly the same way/with the same power for all factions (like the AOM titans), you have timing and irreversibility thrown in besides cost and power.

I'd rather just have the Macedonians represent the Macedonian army of Alexander's time.

  8. Go to the Terrain tab, and check what's under Misc tools ;):) In other words, there already is a resize map tool. It only uses the default sizes, so it might not be perfect for what you describe however, and it's a very generic size changing function, so you have no control over it really.

"Resize map" should definitely be extended to allow manual input (as well as default sizes), and then also choose the "origin point" for the resize. Right now, it is the bottom left corner, which is not good for all cases, so it should be possible to be able to choose any corner or 'center' as an option.

  9. i doubt the Macedonians under Alexander did; i'm not well-versed on Macedonian history, but i wouldn't put it too far out there for the post-Alexander Macedonians such as the Seleucids to have used elephants. whether they used them enough to warrant their inclusion is another thing entirely. if nothing else, could be some single-player games where the Macedonians have access to some irreplaceable elephants for just that scenario

The Seleucids are their own civ and get access to War Elephants. :)
