Red_08 Posted February 12, 2005 Share Posted February 12, 2005 Right now someone bought a plot of land about 1 1/2 miles away which is visible from the retreat center and our house.One day I came home, and the 5,000 or so trees that used to make up a part of our nice view was all dirt and rocks.They're putting a resturant there. And it happens to be a Whataburger. ($expensive$)I personally don't like their burgers.They are also clearing land next to our very busy highway near Singing Hills. They're going to be making a sub division.On the news there has been some headlines of people protesting the building and clearing.Oh BTW, the sub divsion land was cleared in about 5 or 6 hours. Red_08 Posted February 13, 2005 Author Share Posted February 13, 2005 The resturant isn't actually big at all.Maybe about the size of a McDonalds with a pretty good size kid gym inside.About the trees, they just had to clear off so much because the ground they want is almost at a 45 degree angle.They cut out the dirt (or should I say rock ) at the top and moved it toward the bottom, evening it out a little.The clearing part was the fastest, the dirt moving took a while.
