Having said that, if people want to create rats (or other animals), they're certainly more than welcome to! Anyway, there are several different rat species; both the black rat (Rattus rattus) and the (larger) brown rat (Rattus norvegicus) are native to different parts of Asia, but are nowadays found in practically all the countries in the world.
