Money for game?

Justan idea, so dont kill me if its not good, but maybe ask people to pay like $5 to get the editor/open source thing. That way money could go if enough to part time staff. Only need 10,000 people to chip in for an awesome game and you got roughly 1 or 2 part time peeps

Thanks for your concern about 0 A.D.

Raising money for 0 A.D. development is a really important topic, and we talk about a lot within the team.

(Thankfully, we have raised quite a nice sum in the recent past, and we are concerned with spending existing money no less than with raising new money.)

What you suggest is a good idea, but in any case we will make payment optional. 0 A.D. is free and always will be. This is our pledge.

Thanks to your suggestion, however, we might make the donation more prominent on the download page.

An interesting idea, but it doesn't work with our free, open source approach to game development. We run donation campaigns from time to time which have been quite successful in the past.

Also, finding people to actually do the work is difficult. No one wants to give up their full time employment to work on 0 A.D. for a few months of funded development...

For now we'll stick with open source and part time contributors. Thanks for your suggestion though.
