dorianR
Any ideas on how to fix this? It's a fresh install using the steps outline on the site. I can't even read the "Learn to Play" bit or start a new game. There is no in-game text showing up. feneur
Could you please provide some more details about your system? The most important are most likely graphics card and graphics card driver.
Ykkrosh
Could you possibly post a screenshot, too? (Broken drivers are known to cause problems with everything except text being invisible, but I don't think I've heard of only the text disappearing, so I'm not sure what way it's breaking.) tinoesroho
Time for the noobster to chime in.Personally, I'd be blaming the fonts before the window manager. It ran for me under kde and gnome, and I wouldn't be surprised if it ran just fine under dvm or icewm.
Ykkrosh
The output of "glxinfo" may help too.If you're using the proprietary Nvidia drivers then the game really ought to work fine. If you're using the Nouveau drivers then it's not really expected to work (since they don't have full OpenGL support yet).It looks like you do have some text, on the buttons. Those are RGBA font textures, and it seems to be just the alpha-only font textures that aren't working.Personally, I'd be blaming the fonts before the window manager. It ran for me under kde and gnome, and I wouldn't be surprised if it ran just fine under dvm or icewm.Yeah, we don't use any font support from outside of the game (window manager or external font files etc) - they're just pre-generated textures and should work identically anywhere. Ykkrosh
The weird thing is, I have an ATI card, not nvidia. I'm not sure why nvidia is showing up everywhere.Oops - looks like you have an Nvidia motherboard (but ATI graphics card, which is the important thing), and I got confused by all the mentions of Nvidia OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI R600 (JUNIPER 68BE) 20090101 TCL DRI2OpenGL version string: 2.1 Mesa 7.10.2Hmm, other people have used the same drivers and I don't think anyone has reported the same problem, so I'm not sure why it'd fail . Maybe it's a problem in interacting with this particular hardware, since it seems more modern than what most people have tested with - has anyone here got experience with similar things? Those R600 drivers are largely obsolete now and replaced by Gallium-based drivers, but I can't easily see any way to switch to them on existing versions of OpenSUSE, so I'm not sure what to suggest.
