tinoesroho
Just looked at update-manager, and noticed that it's now revision 9530 - Alpha 5! Yeehaw! You've been scooped! Edited May 19, 2011 by tinoesroho
gudo
Is the windows installer out? I wanna get some serious play time in before the rapture and there's only two days left!... Of course, considering my religious leanings, I'll have plenty of play time after the rapture too :/
feneur
The Alpha is not yet released, but we've started putting up release files for testing. You can find them here: http://releases.wildfiregames.com/
gudo
Installed the windows version. Works fine. Though it does claim to be r09529 in game...
Ykkrosh
That's normal (though arguably a bit weird) - it reports what version of the code was compiled, and on Windows it compiled the code from r9529 and then the resulting executable got committed as r9530 which is what is released. tinoesroho
The PPA is out, which is odd. I do like the more intelligent JuBot - playing with him in Alpha 4 was a little unchallenging. I only wish there was a "civilization" choice when choosing a map.

tinoesroho
*facepalm*Oh. Didn't know that. (How couldn't I notice it?)
tinoesroho
Played a random map (Hellenes vs Iberians) on Giant. Experienced occasional freezes and hiccups. Game is unplayable with shadows enabled on default Nvidia card(s) (onboard a 2007 HP Pavilion and a 2010 Compaq desktop).
Mythos_Ruler
The game will definitely not play very well with only an on-board graphics chip.
tinoesroho
Unfortunately, On-board graphics is what most of the people in my social circle have. Perhaps disabling shadows automatically for on-board graphics users is a good idea.
Ykkrosh
They're disabled by default on most Intel graphics devices. What is your one called? ("glxinfo|grep renderer" should say.)
