Fire Giant
Nice pet No, seriously, I'd have imagined the Elephant to be much larger and carrying this kind of "box" where the warriors stand in - was that uncommon for Indian War Elephants ? (I might have missed something there).
Curufinwe
(No, Indian Elephants are smaller than their African cousins. Nice scan. However, I find that the ears of this Indian Elephant look rather big for an Indian Elephant ;p
Acumen
Yeah, Michael has it right. The Persian mahouts rode the elephant (while the Carthaginians, coming later in history (if that makes sense), used the tower), and garishly painted their beasts in a similar way.In fact, this image is downright perfect. I've added it to the Persian Profile for future reference.
Mythos_Ruler
Just for kicks, we should include a LOTR Oliphaunt in the editor, complete with a castle on its back like depicted in the movies. LOL
Argalius
Cool picture, where do you get all these pics from?

Mythos_Ruler
@Curu - I suspect the artist either had some kind of generic "elephant" in mind and only vaguely remembered how an Indian elephant should look, or he only had an African elephant reference available. Or heck, maybe it's a hybrid. PS: Heck, even natural genetic variation is bound to produce an Indian elephant with larger ears.

Mythos_Ruler
Please tell me elephants will not be siege I think it's safe to say, elephants will be good vs. buildings, but will also be very good vs. most infantry and cavalry types ( the exception being those units armed with spears ). Hope that calms your fears.
