Shield protection

I mean, will units with shield receive more damage from attacks by the rear than by the front (like TW games)?

I think that it would be similar to AoE 2 and AoM

However, in the game Praetorians, when you play as the Romans and create a Legionare squad, you have the setting to set them as "Turtle" formation and they will become slower and more resistant to arrows.

Another case is in Warcraft III, when you research a technology while playing as Humans, a Footman will be able to use "Block", which just about the same thing.

Yeah,i know that Warcraft thingie. But then, that would mean that outflanking and attacking an enemy by the rear is tacticallly useless ! Will there be morale or something?

There will be a benefit to flanking.

No morale, but the idea is to have less armour on the sides and back.
