  1. Greetings to all, decided to familiarize myself with Atlas today; Here are the results- 3 map files (1 eye-candy, 1 multiplayer, 1 for both) and also 17 screenies that I think are decent enough to share. Hope Valley (4 Player) Not exactly what I wanted to end up with but I'll probably remake a better version once more sophisticated tools become available. Expanding City (Eye-Candy Only) Decided to treat the Atlas editor as if it was a Stronghold series castle builder ^^ Beach Landing (2 Player, more of a unit combat map) Feels like Troy, doesn't it? Available for download on ZippyShare: http://www7.zippyshare.com/v/34909763/file.html ---------===ScreenS===--------- ====Local Traders=========Greek Mob?========Good day, Citizen!====0AD Theatrical release= ======River===========Ugh.. Those Gauls!=========Aerial 1=============Aerial 2====== =====Aerial 3=============Dark Times...========Animal Planet==========Dragon Cave==== ======Tension=============To Arms!===== Hope you like it! Permission to do whatever you like with the maps and screenshots is granted to everyone! =) I'll probably make more when time permits =D -MrK
  2. oh, my bad, looked at it quickly and didn't notice the navigation instructions. Sounds like something taken out of AoK(Conquerors exp.). Well if this happened in real life ages ago a warrior and a horse dressed like an eagle would definitely scare the attacker to some extent.
  3. Quite honestly I said that to seem more friendly towards this whole little AoM2 project of yours =P When it comes to modeling/programming the features for this project I could certainly help =) Oh and btw oshron - the link u provided leads to the main page, not everyone might know to search for "mythology", I suggest this link instead: http://rplegacy-database.wikispaces.com/se.../view/mythology
  4. great! u should edit your first post and place the info bout that there too.
  5. he just said it all that way people could easily contribute ideas as well.
  6. I'd love to help you guys out in the initial planning here, but I've read almost all the pages and most of it is just ideas spread over many posts, do you guys have an outline file or topic/site where all the plans and suggestions are categorized by civs/gods/units/buildings/techs etc? If not it would be very beneficial to have something like that, any changes/suggestions can be easily incorporated into the scheme.
  7. I was actually defending underarm in that post I think dev. team in charge of models wont pay much attention to the accuracy issue at this stage, with the limited number of developers it takes probably forever to get something major done. And id say animations for 3-5 different stances depending on circumstances are a rather big one, considering that the game needs other units and anim's in the first place. Hmm, i should get involved somehow =p Just think whats gonna happen if a Macedonian Hoplite gets introduced to the game, they gonna argue about how the close combat looks with those xD
  8. Def. like the idea of mythology, maybe because i still play AoM I can take care of the Slavic languages with Szczupakabra, I'm from Poland and Poland is pretty much at the centre of slavic-speaking countries. In our education system we learn literature and mythology often using the original archaic terms of the language, as our language evolved very quickly. We describe some of other slavic languages as being "archaic" becuse of how things are named, a single term usually is used to define a multitude of things and u distinguish the meaning depending on the circumstances.. But simple phrases should be rather easy
  9. lets leave cavalry for another time =P I never would even think of striking a horse from the top. Actually I tried it with a stick, a bit under 1 meters, id say like 1.7 If you grab it 1/3 of the way from the back end and brace it on the underside of your arm an push it it a little bit down with your hand then u get an amazing grip on it. While with overarm grabbing the spear in the middle doesent work really well, when you thrust the back end of the spear tends to raise a bit while the business end goes a little bit too low. What i noticed tho that if you repeat the motion of thrusting from above with underarm grip your muscles get exhausted WAY faster. Your shoulder tries to force you to lower your arm and the whole process involves your back muscles too. Interesting =p
  10. History Channel all the way =D You might be right, I see the point, nor am I an expert on Greek combat formations. I'm simply giving my perspective on the subject. + not all the Greeks fought the same, different regions, different training, different sources.
  11. @mfmachado Even tho the 300 version of the phalanx looks pretty cool the whole movie is very inaccurate.. I get that you just wanna point something out from a good movie but unfortunately they over exaggerated everything to make it more heroic. 1. Spartans didint fight nearly naked, they were very well known for their heavier-than-usual armor. 2. No soldier will bend their knees in battle, having done martial arts myself i can tell you having ur knees bent all the time drains a lot of your lower body strength. Now imagine doing that with full armor and shield. But still its a cool video. As to the overarm/underarm grip- lets think bout it: It is true that underarm grip provides you more thrust, just look at your muscles that you're using- bi,tri and your shoulder to give the spear some additional speed while overarm is a bit uncomfortable, just think how humans evolved, when we used hands and feet to walk, its natural to do any motion that doesn't require our arm to go over our shoulder. But, in Phalanx this is just wrong, even tho you can use underarm grip to hit your opponent over your and their shield your arm and biceps are on the same elevation as your shoulder and head, making them very exposed, what if the guy in front of you decides not to go for your head but for ur arm that isint as heavily armored? Remember, armor is lighter (or no arm armor at all, native to hoplites) on your arms for the sake of comfort, try to thrust your spear with two 20-pound metal plates strapped to them.. Thats why hoplites didint have anything to protect their biceps. So, back to the battlefield - you thrust your spear with underarm grip over the shield, but the guy in front was just waiting for that, while he raises his shield a bit to cover his face from being struck, with his spear he uses overarm grip to strike ur arm from over his shield, u get your arm cut open, u drop your spear and your arm is most likely unable to do anything anymore due to the pain and damage. Now, what can you do? you cant pick up your weapon, u cant swap places with the guy behind you without breaking formation and endangering guys to your left and right. Now lets see how a situation like this really looks like: For those who didint see the movie - a second later the guy gets his arm cut open in a very unpleasant way. Thats why in my opinion overarm in phalanx is all good, if the dev. team wants to include underarm grip in free combat that would be awesome (visually entertaining with the variety ) Well i hope this contributed. -MK
