The way it handles numbers is great! That means small adjustments can be made for balance purposes. For example 9.004 could be an armor value. Or 9.125, etc.
"No stat limits have been decided yet."
That's good. It makes the engine very flexible for modders. Great job with everything. I've been following this project for years.
Is it possible to make flying units (not in game but in a mod - for example a fantasy dragon) ? And if it is possible, would it be possible to make ground units which could attack something that was in the air? I understand if this function is not implemented in 0 AD. or the game engine as it makes no sense for the time period.

JustSomeGuy, I agree with you there. AOKTC is the perfect balance between warfare and economic management.

Will there be documentation as to the maximum and minimum values supported by the game engine? For example, I noticed a hack armor value of 9.0 in the following screen shot:
http://www.wildfiregames.com/forum/index.p...pe=post&id=2349
What is the highest value hack armor could be? Also, how many decimal places can numbers be carried out ? I.e. would 9.500 be a valid hack armor value ? Just curious as to how the game engine handles numbers.

That intro screen looks very cartoony. The jury is of course still out on it and it might turn out well, but I'd rather see an RTS from them than an rpg.

Win XP, service pack 3. I have a Xubuntu box but its a Pentium 2 with 256mb of ram, not a gaming machine.

Thanks. That will be very helpful. While it is possible to edit xml files, it is leagues easier to edit them with a nice gui and menus.

Will there be a tool with a gui where stats edits can be made? For example, something like geneidt2.1 enhanced?

Seems to me like it would work well as a mod too.

In order to avoid lawsuits why not try:
a) contacting Christopher Tolkien in a written letter explaining everything including the respect and Honor we all have for his father and his fathers great works. Also including the fact that no one is trying to make any money off of this.
It's worth a shot. I can do some research to try and find a good address. I'm sure someone could draft a moving persuasive professional letter.
Renaming everything to something vague. For example, rather than having "middle earth" why not have "faraway land" ? Rather than hobbits, have "magic tiny peoples". One could do this for every name, creature, place etc. Of course the names could be better than what I came up with, but my main point is they can be vague in order to view legal action. Consider how many fantasy games have Wizards, Trolls etc. in them.
c) Host everything in a country that doesn't care, perhaps Norway? For example, DCSS decryption is technically illegal in the U.S.A. as it violates the DMCA. It circumvents dvd content scrambling so that people who run Linux can view dvd's. But its still in use and commonly downloaded to Linux boxes. See for more background information:

What work specifically has been done on this project so far? Considering all of the potential legal hassles it makes perfect sense that some people may have bailed out of the project. However, what happened to all the work that had already been done? If most people have decided to bail out, why not release what is done to the internet, perhaps someone will pick it up.
Some may know me as qaz123tfg from Age of Kings Heaven. I know project management can be a pain but it is possible. I am a member of the Phoenix Clan and worked extensively on their stats mod. I would be glad to help out as far as ideas and documentation for this project -- and in any other way possible.
Perhaps after 0 AD is released and people see how great it turned out, they will be inspired to join this project again.
