  1. Thank you Mythos, for clearly demonstrating my last post about the reaching technic.

"Nonsense. Their original thoughts on the subject were written down and agreed upon in the 1st Amendment." - Mythos

So what you are telling me is that you know that the founding fathers would want the 10 Commandments removed from our schools and courthouses? Or would they roll over in their graves to see them taken down. I am interested as to how you can prove to us all that the founding fathers would endorse the removal of the 10 Commandments from our legal and education system as a standard to follow.

So, either we display the 10 Commandments in public schools and courthouses and have strong moral standards, or we don't display the 10 Commandments and fall into ruin? Why not display the major tenets of Islamic Sharia Law?

Once again Mythos... You clearly show that you are reaching. As you did not get the point of my observation.

To clarify: My point was there is a 0 benefit factor to the removal of the 10 Commandments.

And concerning the displaying of the Islamic law... That was quite a reach in itself.

The 10 Commandments clearly hold a major part of the American history. The Islamic tenets do not. So in a country where symbolism (i.e. Eagle, stars etc.) is very important in our political system- why would we put up something that has no ties to American history and take down something that our political system was founded on?

Oh- and your ramble about which set of laws to post- did you know that there are hundreds and hundreds of laws stated in the Bible for the country of Israel to follow? Created specifically for the people of Israel. Why would we implement all those laws into our system?

That has absolutely nothing to do with the 10 Commandments.

The 10 Commandments clearly have a strong moral code that any person should strive to reach, which is clearly the reason why the founding fathers wanted it in our judicial and educational system. To help better the judgments and knowledge of those in the systems.

To say you would want to remove a strong moral code that this country has used since day 1 just because it comes from the roots of 1 religion (a religion I might add that has huge ties to our history) is simply either ( a ) ignorant ( b ) reaching for something simply because they do not agree with the said religion.

As I know you are not ignorant (quite the opposite) I can only assume you do not approve of the 10 Commandments just because you do not agree with the Christian religion. As we can clearly see that you have no solid evidence for anyone to see why we should remove something like the 10 Commandments from our political system.

If this is not the case- please demonstrate for us all why we as Americans should want to remove a moral code our great country has used since its first day. A code of conduct that builds truth, honesty and clearly defines what is 'good' and what is 'evil'. Why should we remove this from the schools of our children and from the courthouses of our nation? How does the 10 Commandments become detrimental to our society? (If it is not detrimental, why should we then remove such a major piece of our American history?)

  2. No- all the quotes in that link are real. The liberals say that he isnt a flip flop...

But they cant say anything when they hear that. Right from his own mouth- two different opinions on almost every major topic in debate.

    He is ridiculous...

  3. And, also, the Christians of which you are speaking are general the reputed "born-again"ers, who oft believe (except for the black urban congregations) that Bush II was not only chosen by God to fill that position, but also that he is the voice of God, or even an avatar of that diety.  Scary, but true. Especially since 41% of Americans consider themselves Evangelical Christians (ex-drunks).  No, they're not all ex-drunks. But our President (no, not the one that the people elected) is an ex-drunk.

They say that 86.7% of all facts are made up on the spot. Just like that figure I just spouted out, just like the above post I just quoted.

Translation: I would be curious to see the statistics backing the comments in that entire post. Including: 41% of Americans thinking Bush "II" is an "avatar of their deity", as you said- that statistic sure is scary- but I doubt if it is actually as you say "true". And what exactly do you mean by christians being "ex-drunks"?

Not being very open minded now are we? :( I thought thats what having liberal political views was all about?

LIBERAL (adj.) ( a ) "...free from bigotry..." ( b ) "...tolerant of the ideas and behaviors of others..."

Labelling christians as ''ex-drunks" doesnt sound very free from bigotry...

  4. I do completely understand where you are coming from about a common moral code. In fact I agree with you almost completely. But the whole point of my simple observation would be that:

-The removal of The 10 Commandments would as the original thread starter adeptly put "have the founding fathers rolling in their graves." It would be doing just the opposite of their original goal.

I mean, who honestly would want to remove something from our legal system that helps build strong moral standards? There would be a 0 benefit factor for the removal of the 10 Commandments.

Anyone who stands on top of a soap box and says that an ancient law created to protect the innocent, help build peace and honesty while building towards a standard of perfection- IS NOT something we should have in our schools and courthouses...

    ...Is clearly reaching...

  5. Ah. Dont you wish everyone could just agree? But there is always that one guy...

    *Enter myself*

You guys are missing a few critical points- our founding fathers were men who clearly understood that for a country to stand it must have a solid foundation; the Bible was the source of this foundation for these men. They believed that God's ways were much higher than Man's ways and they all believed without a shadow of a doubt that the Bible was the perfect root foundation for any nation.

No matter what you might say about the 10 Commandments, one thing you can not say is that if a country really tried to live like that- it would ruin the country.

Even an atheist can clearly see why men founding a government would want to base their moral system on something as clear as the 10 Commandments, because they knew that if people followed their foundation- what a glorious country that would be...

Unless you guys can convince me that a country's base of the 10 Commandments is detrimental to a society- I might be interested in hearing what you have to say.

    :(

I really hate to break it to some of you guys- but there is no such thing as a "pluralistic society". At least- a pluralistic society that has not failed utterably. So to say that the 10 Commandments should be taken out of the courthouses and schools is in my opinion and the opinion of millions out there- plain ignorant of the intents of the founding fathers to build a society on a strong moral base.

A small note before I stop:

Every type of government we know has a foundation that the society if built on.

-The Republican democracy has the guiding principle of virtue.

    - The Monarchies guiding principle is that of honor.

    - Aristocracy is moderation.

    - Despotism in which the guiding principle is fear.

If we get rid of strong moral conduct- we will degerate into a dark system of corruption and the missuse of authority.

The U.S. Constitution is the form of our government, but the power is in the virtue of the people.

And unfortunately for those who disagree with me, there are too many millions of people out there who agree with me that a society should have a strong moral standard to base our legal system on... Simply put- the minority has a louder voice than the majority on this issue. And both sides know this.

    Peace out my friends...

  6. Two shots from a new batch of screenshots of the Elf cities. You can also see some early teaser shots of the first Orc settlements which should become populated fortresses in the next month.

  7. How far have you made it in the game ETH? I started played it at the end of each chapter I switch between a good and bad charachter to see how the decisions effect my charachters. And I was pleased with the results I found.

Graphically, the game is stunning. SFX- as you said could be a bit better but its still good. Voice acting could use a bit I admit, but overall its pretty good.

I find the game fun, extremely easy to get the hang of.. (You had targeting problems? Dude, the auto system is waaay too easy. I actually felt guilty using it.) This gameplay is easy to catch and even easier to use.

My complaints are limited to basic stuff like (1) respawning enemies each time you leave the area (2) back storys to small quests are minimal but the quests are fun enough to play it makes up for it etc.

Gotta disagree with you here ETH, the game could sure use some extras that it was missing on- BUT, one thing is for sure... Fable is going to change the way people create RPGs. Its going to force developers to kick it up a notch.

8.5 if not a 9 just because no RPG has close to the decision making and Action/Reaction as Fable. And that by itself is new and fresh which happens to mean alot in a worn down industry.

  8. Yeah, you will see Orcs in the very near future. But nothing yet. They look incredible, and it will be nice to see some creatures besides Men roaming Mythador...

As for Maakvir, I dont think we will see any of the NPC units till closer to the end. Alot of the Orc units have been created but are being tweaked before they start popping in game and Elf unit concept art has been finished and not long after Orcs appear, you will see Elves begin to actually dwell in the beautiful Elf cities you have seen already.

  9. Well, the discounted video cards arent the big thing- they are like a perk. ATI of course has our name and logo up on their website and we have free access to use the ATI logo on our websites and advertisements, but most importantly for us- ATI will be testing DoF for us on all their video cards. Which is going to save us alot of time and money. Overall, it has really been a great experience talking and working with ATI- and we do have some other huge industry brands we have lined up for the new program but- have some technical details we have to work out first. (i.e. Some companies are willing to work out marketing+ deals with Reverie as soon as the publisher is "secured"...)

    :P

  10. Yeah, Kristo basically answered that question for me. We do have alot of gameplay information. Stuff that we will probably be releasing once we actually have it in game. (i.e. show what we can do as well as say it).

Got alot of exciting stuff going on in Reverie right now.

  11. Hello WFG forummers!

Hopefully you all dont mind me stopping in to drop some Dawn of Fantasy updates on you but I have some exciting news.

For the very first time, we are releasing screenshots from the Elf civilization in the game. And we are looking for anyone and everyone to drop by with their suggestions, comments or critics. You can check out these new screenshots at:

    http://reverieentertainment.net/forums/sho...thread.php?t=90

So please, feel free to drop in and let us know what you think.

We wanted to keep the civilization as true to the classic Elf concepts as possible without stressing the gamers machines with high poly objects in a RTS game. To be honest, I am really pleased with the end result and I hope you all are as well.

    Best Regards,

  12. There is no such thing as "fast game development". Even the fully financed companies can take years to complete a game. (See Half-Life 2). So just imagine how much harder it is for guys working full time in their regular lives to work even more hours every week on games like 0AD.

0AD is doing great and progressing as would be expected by anyone involved in game development, maybe even better.

    Keep up the good work.

  13. I bought the El Camino basically for the engine and have fixed it up. Yeah- the older El Camino's (late 50's early 60's) have the large finned back-ends. I prefer 1969-1972 El Camino's and Chevelles. I am obcessed with them.

Camaro's are tight as well. Especially the late 60's- Novas are bad little suckers too. Basically anything Chevy in the 1968-72 range kicks butt.

I wish everyone had one... Just kidding- then I could beat everyone...

  14. Wijits feeling it guys with the classic. Classics are the only thing worth driving these days. My first car was (still is) a 1969 El Camino 350 Turbo Fire. Metallic Blue with Cragar SS wheels- 400 HP... LOUD.... And the greatest thing, is the 1969 El Camino is a Chevelle hybrid so the front end is exactly like a 1969 Chevelle.

Forget the Volvo's... American muscle... And if you live overseas and like imports... You can "import" an American Muscle Car. B)
