  3. Yes, the engine of DoF is amazing.  When will you guys have a working demo (public)?

Well, you might be surprised to hear that it would be sooner than you are probably thinking. Once again, I hate being secretive about things but I hate setting dates. But the game itself is playable, its just matters of fixing bugs etc. Stay posted, as always for an in-game movie, new screenshots and information about a public demo.

  4. Yeah that is correct... your fellow indie developers over at Reverie Entertainment, LLC have not slacked off just because we dont post progress. Stop by this thread to see a dozen or so new screenshots from the demo.

Hopefully, we are planning on an in game video with some battle sequences very soon. Stay posted.

Keep up the good work WFG!

Lots of great stuff going on over at the DoF Forums and we will be posting even more updates (Completely revamped Men civ is up next- followed by the Orcs). Promo screenshot releases for them are planned to take place in the next month. Stop on by and check out all the new stuff.

  6. Hmmm. I have had a conversation with Dan Quayle when he was Vice President- that really about it.

For all you gamers out there, had a 1 on 1 chat with Bruce Shelley of Ensemble Studios (Lead Designer - Age of Empire, Mythology series) which was really cool simply since he was one of those guys you have always played games of his and it was great to actually meet him in person. Met the team at Id, met allot of the guys from Far Cry at a conference in Europe... Mmmm, had a conversation with Rick Goodman (CEO / Stainless Steel Studios) and Marc Adler (Exec Producer for CGI coming in 2005 "Delgo").

  7. The beta coming out in January will feature a fully playable Orc civilization, (Orcs, Goblins, Ogres, Wolfbears... oh yeah...) Elves (Walking trees, magical siege weapons, kick @#$% warrriors, slick weapons and... lady fighters... oh yeah...) and a completely revamped Men civilization. (Bought freakin time...)

And of course you will be able to see the AI, pathfinding and all that glorious stuff in place... Stay posted.

  8. I call a Christian to be someone who through believes grace alone with faith alone in Christ alone will get him to Heaven. Catholics don't, as far as I know (their system seems to be changing, or whatever).

Quacker is 100% right on that point. If you ask a true Catholic if they know they will go to heaven- they will answer "I hope so." if you ask a true Chrustian if they are going to heaven- they will say: "I know so." Two very different answers. The simple reason is because Catholics believe in works playing a vital role in their salvation dispite the obvious parts of the bible that clearly state: "Not by works- lest any man should boast..."

@Yieul: You missed my questions. I will repeat what I said:

Micah: "Would your hatred grow? If you were given the opportunity to retaliate against the man who did that to a dear family member of yours- without you being held responsible for your actions, what would you do? And how can you justify what you would do? And what right have you to retaliate since what he did wasnt bad?"

Simply put- if someone did brutally murder a dear family member/friend of yours- would your views on there actually be a "good" and an "evil" change?

And as I said before, the world that you see is far too disgusting for me to agree with it.

I know that there is a good and that there is a bad. We all know that there is because we all know if someone was to brutally torture and murder a mother and baby child is disgusting a wrong. We all feel that.

There is good and there is evil in this world. And to choose to ignore that, I just cant do.

  9. @Erik: Yieul had mentioned he questioned his mother about "Lucy", I was simply stating that "Lucy" was one of the most flawed discoveries we know of. And that he should do more research into the matter.

My short bit on Lucy was just stating that. Everything else was related to other topics. (i.e. Yieul's moral code and evolution vs. 2nd law of thermodynamics)

  10. @Yieul: The more I think about your moral code- the more I find I disagree with it.

If I were to believe your moral code then for example:

Should someone come in and murder my mother or my daughter or a dear family member- I could not have the right to get mad at them- because guess what:

Even though I view that as a disgusting and heinous evil- he might not. He might just be making his own decision on what to do with his pointless life- and since no one can define "good" or "evil"- who am I to be upset with him or seek retaliation against him.

Should that scenario happen to you- what would you think?

Would your hatred grow? If you were given the opportunity to retaliate against the man who did that to a dear family member of yours- without you being held responsible for your actions, what would you do?

And how can you justify what you would do? And what right have you to retaliate since what he did wasnt bad?

Then, I think you found that I never used the good or evil. This is one big point. Nothing to me is either good or evil.

In short- if you are correct, the world we live in is a disgusting place, and I am more than happy to disagree with you.

Sorry to be blunt Yieul, I respect your views, but I glady disagree with them.

  11. There are so many things going on in this debate that I dont know what to reply too. :(

@Mythos: Evolution is a hypothesis, not a theory. Go do some more research on scientific definitions. The only reason call it the Evolutionary Theory is from non scientific people who simply cant understand the variance between a hypothesis and a theory.

You, for example, apparently have fallen into the group who believes that evolution is a theory just because your school books showcase it as a fact. But- if you would actually look into the correct definitions.

And, I'll recall here a discussion to my mother when I was a bit younger (which doesn't care but mostly think creationisticly)

    - God created Adam and Eve, and God gave them mouths to speak. (she said this about me being untalkative and rather gestual in my answers)

    - But, mom, where is Lucy in this?

She never answered. She never could link Lucy to her theory. And she grew mad to me. Since I had a lot of confidence on there topics, I explained her how I saw Lucy Grand-Aunt, and she was there with big eyes. She probably was mad, but I didn't bother. If you grow mad, is that you don't know how to react and answer : hence, it's just pointless and never helps :(. On my side, I continued on showing her the evidences, then showed her how and why I linked them like that. (I was 10 years old at that time :()

Hmmm. Lucy? Heh. Lucy the not actually a female Lucy? That original discovery was chalked with more mistakes than John Kerry has flip flopped topics. (Okay, maybe not THAT MANY MISTAKES but alot...)

See, arent you glad I am not your mom? :(

    Yieul: "Mom- what about Lucy?"

Micah: "Son- what about the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics which states "The entropy of a closed system can not decrease" translating into: everything both animate and non animate breaks down.

Oh man- that would rule out things getting better then wouldnt it?

And as we know our universe (all encompassing) will eventually get to a point where it no longer recieves energy- that would explain why everything wears down. Both living and dead objects continue to break down.

So- dont get me started on that one guys- because frankly- it doesnt really matter what you respond. I simply look at the laws of science and the laws say that progressive evolution through mutation breaks the laws of science.

But lets get back on topic here...

  12. I dont have time to post any big responses tonight, as I just got off the phone with some guys and have just had some kick butt news business news- so I dont have time to chip in any replies just yet.

Its nice to know there is a place to come and discuss/debate issues around here, and its all very intelligent debating.

The benefit is that others who do not share your views are not lorded upon by your religious doctrin.

Thats one of the benefits? Show me how often that the 10 Commandments are "lorded" over people in the judicial system...

    *cough* reaching *cough

    :(

The only things that caught my eye that I really felt the need to post on was Mythos' comment about:

    "evolution is a theory"

Actually, if you look up the definitions of scientific laws, theories and their proper attributes, you will see that evolution isnt a theory. Its a hyopthesis. It is not some thing that has ever been proved or can be tested. It is therefore as much a possibility of how our world came into existence as say a deity creating the world.

you don't see Evolution, you see it's results.

The same can be said for creation so there is no difference between the two scientifically.

In that case, neither side can technically prove that their ideas are correct- yet evolution isnt taught as a hypothesis, or even as a theory for that matter.

You guys have read this so you know I am not lying, the teach it as if it is a scientific law. Wether or not you believe it is true or not, based on your guys opinions- you should both then agree that evolution and creation should be taught side by side in our schools correct? As we should be striving for a more pluralistic society correct?

See- you guys dont have to answer that because I already know what you are thinking. Once again, its not about plurality for you, its about what it is. As neither of you would really want creation taught with evolution in our schools.

Its the subject matter over the subject.

Pluralistic society = the libertarian society the Founders designed.

So that would mean plurality in all fields...

  13. @Yieul: Really, I could post a giant thread to your moral code (which is rather interesting) but I fear that would be going very far off topic.

I can see where you are coming from with this idea, its actually a very good system, but honestly- IMO, if what you think is really true, its is a rather aimless existence isnt it? And really the only thing that defines what is "good" and what is "evil" is only in our minds.

So in that case- the laws be abide by are only the ideas of others that we are forced to follow wether we recognise them as good or bad.

I am sure you can see why people reach toward a higher power. It answers all the questions in life and goes from making it pointless and mindless to thought provoking and worthwhile.

  14. You skim over the single question that I have asked repeatedly since entering this conversation...

What is the benefit factor of removing the 10 Commandments from our schools and courthouses?

It cant be because only 1 religion is expressed, as we know that in the schools for example- in most schools (if not all) students are not given the choice to listen to possible explanations on the creation of the world. Evolution is taught as fact without debate.

If you really want a pluralistic society so bad that you want to take down the 10 Commandments from our courthouses, then you must also be willing to stand up so that all schools must teach every form of possible creation from every scope and nationality while also opening the doors for any other scenario in which one form is recognised.

Is this about making sure that we have a pluralistic choice as to what goes up on the walls of our schools? Or is it just because it is the 10 Commandments?

Pluralistic society = Chaos Mythos... Wake up.

  15. Well, fortunately John Kerry has the capacity to change. He has the ability to grow. He can grasp the concept that he may have actually (*gasp*) made a mistake and change his views to compensate.

LOL! That should be in the ad.

"John Kerry does not flip flop on major political issues, he just has the capacity to change. Vote Kerry in 2004... The only man with the courage to be on whatever side you are on..."

You have got to be kidding me. Did you count how many issues Kerry gave two completely different responses on in that recording? You probably lost track.

Maybe he does have "the capacity for change" but any man who's views change because he actually "made a mistake" THAT MANY TIMES... Doesnt deserve to be in office. That is a gross amount of "mistakes and corrections" and he hasnt even made it to office.

Your whole post there is a complete joke. That single recording I already posted completely dismantles Kerry and shows that he does flip flop that it is not "supposed" as you say- but he clearly changes back and forth between topics to suit his needs.

Just like the above stated example of him at the church preaching, even after his spokeperson said they didnt want people using the church for their own political organisation.

    You are kidding youself.

  16. Nearly all of my information, including the 41% is based on the New York Times' article "Without a Doubt", an article about Bush's use of 'aith in exchange for rational (It's long, but a good article).

Hmmm. I guessed you missed the big speech Kerry gave last week in which he preached at an African-American church, quoted from the scriptures and clearly stated that he was a man with Christian beliefs. (This, the same man who previously said he did not want to "use the house of God for political organizations")

    http://www.turkishpress.com/news.asp?id=30979

Showcasing his spectacular abilities of flip flopping (yet again) while also trying to draw in more votes using his religion. Something that Bush has been "slammed" many times for.

"Bush's overt attempts to use houses of God as political organizations, and now lobbying the Vatican to play election politics, crosses the line...'' - Michael Meehan, Kerry's spokesperson.

And when I said "or even an avatar", I meant that a smaller part of the 41% believed that.

And I knew what you meant, but what you said and what you meant were two different things. You seemed to have forgotten to leave out the "smaller part of 41%" from your original post. And you might even ad "microscopic part" to that.

Thirdly, the denotation of "liberal" is far different from its connotation.

I know that as well, I used that as a simple object lesson to show that your post was close minded for a person whose very political party means "open mindness"... Besides from being extremely derogatory.
