  1. @master ulises, great battles were most times in an open field, not in cities or settlements.

Exceptions are: A city being under siege or sacked, a roman legion of caesar is being ambushed by those dirty gaul-pigs in the woods...caesar's men are burning a gaulish village and slaughtering the populus for revenge... :)

  2. When are we gonna see some new screenshots and I also'd like to know what major things (except bug-busting) the makers are still facing so I could make an estimation when we're finally going to be able to play this awesome game...I've been waiting since march 2004...yet I've only recently (few days ago) made a forum account...so I could find out more

    :P

  3. Maybe for part 2 the batavian tribes, which were very civilised and wanted to be like the Romans. They came under Roman rule after the Roman expansion to the Rhine river. But when Germanic tribes and the Frisians attacked from north of the Rhine, the Batavians joined them and fought against their Roman leaders.

  4. Well yeah I know, no purpose, though in the Ancient Cretan civilisation under king Minos children worked as slaves. It's where the Ancient Greek word 'o pais' (= the child, the slave, the worker) derived from.

As far as for killing all those children, I'm kinda @#$%ed up so I don't care personally, like killing a child is much different from killing a woman.

  5. Limburg rocks! But to give this post a bit usefulness: Dutch is actually the sixth language on the internet, behind English, French, German, Spanish?/Portuguese?/Chinese?/Japanase?, something like that. So I guess a Dutch translation would atleast have some logic. The question however is, would Dutch people really want a Dutch translation? Some things just sound stupid in Dutch! :P

Yeah I know, some things sound silly in dutch (noob= 'onkundig persoon'), but ALOT of dutch people's English is poor, so I figured, it might good to do a dutch translation anyway.

  6. Hi y'all,

I would like to ask you a question...if it's a (historically) correct game, there must be children too, I mean, have you ever seen a civilisation without any children?

Dear admins and enthousiasts on this forum: Children, I repeat, Children. That is all.

  7. I'm impressed Ramus. I can only dream of such a mastery of latin and marvel at your display of linguistic ability. :P

    Thank you. :)

Oh, and welcome by the way. With your knowledge you will be a great asset here, I'm sure.

Why thank you, ask anything about Latin language and a little Ancient Greek (not too much, now ;), just kidding) (for the admins: mailto -> ramon.vastmans@hotmail.com for any question concerning latin and greek)

I also applied for translating the game into Dutch and German, which I would find a great honour, to do this for 0 A.D.

I might even help out with the French translation, but I bet there are better people for that job, since I'm still studying French

  8. yeah in the Netherlands live about 17 million people who speak dutch + a few hundred thousand in our former colonies and of course more then half the Belgian population speaks dutch (well actually flamish, as they call it themselves, BUT that's the same as saying American English is another language then English spoken by people in the UK.

And I also speak, write and read German since I live in Limburg (German speaking province of the Netherlands)

So yeah, glad to help you out when it's finished :P

  9. @The Purple People Eater

    Anno Domini*

not Dominius. Since the word dominus (=lord, master) is in the genitive case because the Lord (grammatically) possesses the Year, and in Latin the first group (words which end with -us) get an -i when in the genitive case

    SINGULAR

    1st case dominus

    2nd case domini

    3rd case domino

    4th case dominum

    5th case domino

    PLURAL

    domini

    dominorum

    dominis

    dominos

    dominis

    got it? :P
