  1. I think it is a very good idea to increase the damage of melee infantry and siege weapos for palisades ,but.... What about elephants then? Many people build very elongated palisades to protect defensive towers or fortresses (in line with what was said about them being used as an equivalent to defensive stone walls) and it should be noted that while arrows from those buildings hardly affect rams, catapults and siege towers, they do affect elephants. If those siege weapons have a plus for defeating palisades, so should elephants. I do this thinking of a civilization like the Maurians, which I think and from what I have seen relies especially on elephants for siege, since it has elephantry since P2 and cannot build the siege workshop until P3. I know it's an OP civilization right now, but be careful that the new balance improvements don't render it practically useless as it was in A23.
  2. Volunteer moderators could propose themselves and their work could be reviewed anyway. I understand that those of you who are in charge of developing the game in its different aspects are already too busy and can't take care of that too, but there are many veteran players and also more novice players who might find this task interesting and would be willing to do it. It's scary to trust people you don't know, but it's also important to give people a vote of confidence because you might discover people who can be an asset in other ways. So my idea is that volunteers could come forward and just as there is a forum for other types of complaints, such as the abandonment of ranked 1 vs 1 games, those who have a problem with a moderator could report it in a section of the forum to evaluate whether that moderator has done things right or wrong. Also, I would create a topic to discuss about some previous guidelines to give to all those who apply for moderator. This way it could be discussed what the community finds really important to control and the moderators would not start from scratch. The part that is "within their freedom" could be regulated through the reports I mentioned.
  3. I think it's interesting that they stop shooting arrows while they are upgrading but the hitting them and progress being stopped or lost is too much. Let's keep in mind that towers aren't very hard to destroy and rams and catapults aren't affected by them. In addition, the normal thing is precisely to go against the towers with rams, elephants or catapults so that people do not die, so the towers would practically lose all effectiveness, given that there are 5 technologies to investigate. And if they are in the game it is also to serve some purpose, otherwise it is silly to keep them. On the other hand, it is true that they can become too decisive in a 1 vs 1 in which the players are next to each other on the map. It is not the most common thing, but if this happens it can become decisive who starts to make defensive towers on the border. Not so much to prevent resources from being taken, even, as to have the border open so that no buildings can be constructed. Maybe I would reduce the attack distance range of towers in phase 1 or their ability to destroy foundations, because you practically have to leave all the way to your main city for your oponent.
  4. Just to say that I believe that words are not as important as speech. About a month ago I had an attempted conversation with a player who was eventually muted from the multiplayer lobby because he had been crudely propagandizing Catholicism for weeks. I don't have the screenshots because the day I got into the conversation it ended up resolving and user 1 muted him. But in his case it wasn't so much about the words he used, although he did mention Nazism, talked about blacks in a demeaning way, etc. The point is that he was urging us to read the bible, to thank Jesus Christ, he kept copying phrases from the bible and saying that God created the world, that this game is an ode to Jesus Christ, etc. In this particular case, I do not think that a multiplayer lobby is a place to spam this kind of things and, in addition, if I told him to stop, he started a 1vs1 dialogue in which he was not respecting the freedom of each person to think what he wants. It was like if you get a letter from Jehovah's Witnesses at home and an attempt of absolute indoctrination. I was like "Stop, ok, it's perfect that you believe all of that, but this is not the place to adoctrinate people and everyone has right to their own thoughts". And he was like "You are wrong, you don't know anything because this game is an ode to Jesus Christ and we should thank Jesus Christ because God... blablabla and how can you explain it, and the other thing... You can't, because God... more blablabla" How do you control that? It wasn't about the words, but it's true that it took me half an afternoon of discussion and other people in the multiplayer lobby intervening and freaking out to get it silenced.
  5. Hi, I just registered because although I read many of the things you post on the forum, I have never made up my mind or found a really good reason to do so. Reading that you need volunteers has encouraged me, even if I'm no useful to you. I've been playing 0ad for about 1 year. Although until half a year ago I was SUPER nub and until 4 months ago half nub. Now I think I'm not so much anymore. I have 1400 points more or less. Yekaterina has given me some good beating, that's for sure. I don't know anything about programming, but if you need people who are not very veteran to test the game, I'm a candidate. And I've seen that you need historians... Well, I'm not a historian but I am a PhD student of political science, so I think I can move well in the research part. Unless you need people with very specific knowledge or who already have in-depth knowledge about these civilizations. As suggestions for the multiplayer lobby (I usually play with 2 or 3 friends and we are passionate about it) it would be interesting to be able to have rankings also by teams. I know that in AoE they have something like that and I'm not looking for imitating it because 0ad is wonderful as it is, but it would be interesting because I have found that there are several groups of people who play with their own friends and it is an incentive to improve as a group. On the other hand, I was very sorry to see that in the history of civilizations you have removed a lot of information in this new version. When I discovered the game I found it very interesting because you could learn a lot about the different civilizations just by reading some of their characteristics, so I encourage you to include it again. I will keep thinking about things to make more suggestions. Let me know if you need me and for the moment that's all. Hello everybody
