  1. Will it be a technology that converts all infantry into legionnaires, or will legionnaires simply be a separate unit from the velites, hastati, etc?

The Marian reforms especially affected the Hastati, Principes and Triarii. These troop types turned into one new unit type, the names were still in use though. However, this was not the only change, but it's the change the Marian Reforms are commonly known for.

  2. Salvete! :P

mihi nomen est ... nah, let's leave that ^^ I'm your voice performer and I was told to record Celtic and Greek sounds, however, I've some problems with some pronunciations, they're sadly not as clear as they should be.

    Greek

How may I serve you? - Pos dunamai therapèuein

The last word therapèuein is a bit tricky, is it: therapè u e in?

...pèu e in? (poi e in)

    ...pèu ein? (poi ain)

The word kurie: is the last syllable ie like ee or i e (ee ye[ah])?

I guess I'm right, but nonetheless I'm asking to be safe, the grave accents (è, à ... ) means that one has to put an emphasis (speaking longer/accented) on this word, correct?

    tèucho: te ucho or teu-cho?

    Celts

I'm not sure how to accent Tay properly, is it really that English or more like tai?

Ar fy fforth - ;) Very funny guys, very funny ;) I get the pirate arrrrr and the fy (fee, fi) is also okay, but how to speak out two fs? Just one long f? And the r in fforth seems to be a rolling r, is that right?

Am-ee-no, I know this has been written for native english speaker, but I need my 200%, sorry :P Is it Am like in America or more like German am like in Amme?

    rest should be fine :P

    cheers

  3. darn, and I thought we're going to have porn stars ... meh :)

Interesting text which tells us one of the most annoying things in working for money, I already experienced several little burn outs due to a lack of support, but that's the advantage of a job that deals with creative tasks, isn't it? Getting paid for your creative handling, even with burn outs. :D

Ok ok, I know at wildfiregames no one is getting paid, we do it all for free :D

  4. Very nice, but where is that supposed to be? Whales so close to the beach? And it seems that the cords of the sails are always part of the texture and not separated. That looks a bit odd. However, nice one.

  5. 1) Kosovo is Independant, HOWEVER South Ossetia and Arkahzia are "breakaway states". That means that there have been troops in the area to "protect" them. Guess there national loyalty. Russian.
People who do not follow someone, this someone should let them go and not force them with the force of arms. It's the stupidest thing you can do.
    2) Attacking people in their own country, In a part of the country which doesn't want to be apart of the country anymore. Ever heard of Cechnya, Funny it's even in the same freaking region.

LOL - Ever heard of Tibet? Strange, everybody's waving a free tibet flag, but I asked myself, is it cause they just don't like China or is it cause this small tibet is really a victim of poor policy? And what is with South Ossetia? These people are not victims of the georgian president? Why is nobody waving now a south-ossetian flag, hu? Do they just don't like Russia? I bet with everyone here, that in most people's heads there are still evil russians marching. Russia? Oh, communism, bad evil people! Nastarovja! Germany? Oh, Krauts, Nazi!! - just talk with some americans and people who experienced the cold war, the cliché is still present and these people sit in our governments. I wanna be better, all I want is that this biased point of view this biased reportage stops and people start to think about the things that happen and don't believe every sh.. that is up in the news. I neither wanna be the biased defender for russia, I'm not, I just don't agree with the public course and the way everybody's speaking about it, because the result of it is clear, so clear that everybody should wake up and stop ranting about the mistakes of russia in that conflict, this is f.ckin secondary.

    3) the EU not caring: neither Georgia or Ukraine are actually members. They might publically desire too, but until they start producing some serious oil for western europe (countries like France and Germany rely far to heavily on Russian Black Gold).

Absolutely right, Georgia is not a member of the EU, however, the grade of involvement of the EU and other countries like the US in that conflict is enormous. What I was saying is that they do not care about russia's point of view, but care too much in general about Georgia and the whole conflict they are not part of. Who do they think they are? They made up their own stories and in that story russia is the evil invader and they play the pitiful mommy of Georgia. Everyone blames Russia, WTF I don't see why the criticism is so hard, it looks like they really want a conflict with russia. These kiddies don't wanna talk and understand, but wanna pout and rant about russia. Georgia was the aggressor and they are the reason for this whole disaster, not russia, but what does Georgia get? A baby-soother.

I am not going to defend this on a personal level. I have several problems with russia (ie. Putin, Ogligarchs, London-grad, ridiculous levels of poverty in ex-Soviet states etc.) but I do not consider Russia evil. Okay so their input on petrol prices is less than welcome on my part...

Agree to these critics, but it's superflous to mention them here since they are not relevant in that context. I love that, people building up a bad image with other basenesses that don't belong into the relevant context just to support a questionable position. I don't say you're doing it, just a side note that I totally dislike this method of pushing a position.

I'm not really a fan of Georgia and I will hazard that that will be an opinion shared aroung the place. I do not think that South Ossetia and Abkahzia (when they get to vote) will remain either Independant or as a part of Georgia, and I personally couldn't care.

But the fact that Russian troops are still on the soil of a sovereign nation, a nation which it has already declared a formal truce with (and also promised withdrawals from) does worry me. I know someone who wants a war between America and Russia. But Economic advantages (for both side) notwithstanding, I think it is unnecessary and unprobable.

I don't worry about the russian troops that are still in Georgia since Georgia gave up and won't start a new offensive, neither Russia will attack Georgia since everybody's already eying russia suspiciously. They're not stupid. The reason why the russians are still there is clear, they show power, it's a lesson for the georgian president - don't think of doing that ever again - and I think it's right.

I totally agree with the point that there are provocateurs who want a war/conflict with russia or a isolation of russia and then there are people who support going in this direction, stupid as they are. Diplomatically the EU and western states were biased and ignorant.

also @ soty: the size of kosovo sounds larger than the size of Lichtenstein, and Luxembourg and they do very well for themselves.

As I already said, the size of a country shouldn't matter, but what the people want and what they don't want. And if south ossetians don't see themselves as georgians de iure, but de facto as russians and really wanna be part of it, I'd rather prefer a peaceful solution than killing people who just don't participate the sick georgian national pride mania á la "be a f*ckin part of us or we kill you". A presidents who ignores the wishes of his people and wants to kill them is a bad president. His way of acting has some similarity with the acting of a dictator or a childish maniac who wants to keep every piece of the cake only for himself.

  6. Well, fact is: the NATO respected the Kosovo as an independent state, however the two georgian provinces are not respected as states. So we have two countries that have an inner conflict with disloyal parties or regions, but we have two different ways of dealing with this situation. There's something wrong, isn't it? Somehow I have the feeling that provinces or regions becoming new states or parts of other states due to ethnical reasons and conflicts is a big no-go for everyone. States do not tolerate other new states, so they're not tolerating a system that they own as well. All I see is intolerance! - Georgia simply couldn't live with the thought losing territory, so they attacked people in their own country. But these regions don't wanna be part of Georgia anymore, so the bad loser is Georgia. People who think that territory is more important than the life of people should be punished. Russia might not be the most careful military actor, but they stopped the intolerant and childish action of Georgia, in my opinion a good reason, they were acting fast and avoided greater damage (there is always something bigger), something the UN or the EU nor the NATO would have been able to do since they are always voting and voting and debatting until some "peace troopers" enter a conflict and then only just to watch, and this @#$% takes a week or more and people are dying in that time. Really human. People say it has been wrong to enter georgian territory - that doesn't want to belong to Georgia anymore - with the effect to stop the killing of people - this is wrong and a disproportionate reaction?! - Western states or states that wanna be like them are innocent lambs and the cliché of evil russians is still present in your head, hu?

I DO NOT CARE HOW YOU PUT IT.

Very tolerant. Strange, nor the EU cares about it.

  7. I noticed the western press is really biased. Could anyone tell me whats the difference between the method to deal with the situation in Kosovo and the situation in Georgia? Georgia was the aggressor, nevertheless everybodys shaking hands of this ignorant georgian president. This looks like they'd have tolerated the crime against south ossetians. They blame Russia and are handshaking with the aggressor. Oooh these poor Georgians, it's such a little state, how could these peaceful people kill a fly? - they would never have had a chance against russia, BUT they're declaring WAR. THEY, the POOR GEORGIANS. Their little trick didn't work, the US didn't help, so now they're playing the victim of the whole disaster THEY started. All right, I "understand", because Russia is a bigger state, they need an appropriate grade of blame - seriously: NO.

  8. Rome was never totally destroyed (y) there's a reason why it's called the "eternal city" and it's of course just an abstract poll. =)

My real mother was greek, my real father german and you don't see that I have greek roots. Red hair, only celts had them :)

  9. Just a short run-through for ninja:

Female ninja are called 'Kunoichi' - they got the same basic training as the males, however, their main task was to release secrets by means of their attraction. I vote for a sword or tonki. (y)

  10. That's why I said that cheat units should not just be considered as OP units, but also as more or less fair opponents. They'd just make the theme of the game a bit unreal, but just for a time since they're just cheat units.

Hm yeah, copyright, well - you wouldn't pretend it's yours right? And you'd have designed them on your own, so it's on the one hand enough work made by yourself and on the other hand you don't steel any property. You just immitate it, give it a different role under a totally different aspect. It'd be against the copyright if you'd make it exactly like in the other game or when you pretend it's yours.

  11. Would still be a "standard cheat". What about a little review of some cool old games? Since the 0 A.D. team includes them, they should set the priorities. Here just some ideas:

.. some lost units that suddenly appear again in 0 A.D. !

means as well cheat units as normal units from other games - you remember these two neat fighters from AoE1 in NBC suits (was "Photon man" and "e=mc2 trooper" I think)? Lemme brainstorm some games, Command & Conquer, Diablo II, Zelda, War & StarCraft and of course AoE1-3! .. You can probably think of more or better ones, should just be an impulse =)

.. mythological units (á la AoM, grecian and egyptian mythology ftw! :)), non-civ heroes from history (dunno which you already have and which not..)

.. fictional characters from books or movies (StarWars, ow .. there're a lot of possibilities )

.. objects that randomly appear on the map (like an artefact [AoE1] or relic [AoE2], Tiberium fields ;) etc.)

I'd also vote for units that do more than just look cool or have an unique attack style. Units or objects that produce anything (tickle) or are able to produce (training via costs) would be quite interesting, especially if the normal 0 A.D. units are not just fighting against superheroes, but also against/with units that are just similar or also worse than they are [muhaha, weak zombie hordes!].

  12. Strange, this topic is called "Blood?" and question is about the delay time of removing dead bodies. So, I'm gonna give this thread the right draft now :) (even if I don't know if this question was already asked) - Will there be blood effects?

  13. the Algerian Wild @#$%

 I've seen censorship always as a good laugh xD

wait - Lions in Greece? :)

The idea of implementing extinct animals reminds of seeing rather unkown animals like Serows in AoE3. It looks really odd, but I would value this bonus of realism.

  14. Thanks. I might get more onto that forum, a small market for my mod project hehe :) When I'm encouraged or find time for being it I'll most probably support that forum in any way since I'm not new to forum administration/improvement. :) Lemme take a look an PDS ..

    so far, greetings
