  1. For anyone having host issues (people not being able to join etc) for me it didn't work by UPnP, but worked with port forwarding. It also seems like the server has lag issues when people attempt to host more than one game at the same time.

    It needs work but it's a great step for the game. Already had great fun in two matches so far and multiplayer gameplay is already shaping up nicely:)

    I've made some optimizations to the bot. Hopefully that will help the lag issues. (r14387)

  2. If you've port forwarded before (UDP 20595) such as on previous alphas, it should be guaranteed to work. Otherwise, if your router supports upnp and the upnp works as implemented, you should be able to host as well.

    There are no extra permissions with regards to hosting. :)

  3. Hi lars, it seems you stumbled upon a new hardcoded limit. It's something I've put into our old SpatialSubdivision class for mostly testing and ensuring that our code isn't doing anything wrong.

    In your case, it seems like a range query returned more than 1024 entities - a really bad case.

    debug_warn("SpatialSubdivision Query too large. Results truncated.");

    Can you give more information on what map you were playing in, how late in the game were you and what /seemed/ to trigger the error? Were there a lot of units on the screen?

    It was quite early in the game, both players had just Town Phased and had no more than 200 units. Unknown Land, Medium (3p). The events before it crashed were those of normal gameplay.

  4. Iberians, imo, are overpowered in terms of tanking. If you have ~4 garrisoned fortresses with a row of 20 champion cavalry skirmishers behind them, it is virtually impenetrable. Rams and elephants are reduced to dust by the time they reach the fortresses due to the champion cavalry skirmishers (and fortress arrows). Catapults are taken down extremely quickly by the champion cavalry skirmishers (from a safe distance). Spearmen are also not able to counter them without suffering heavy losses from the garrisoned fortresses.
