  1. I think the scenario editor is pretty intuitive and easy to use. I used the AOE editor years ago and also revisited it in the last couple of days and it makes the atlas editor seem pretty simple. But obviously if someone like the poter (60and80) is familiar with the AOE editor, then sure they would like it to be 'like' the AOE editor, but i say why should it? Why draw lines between the two editors just because the games are similar?
  2. I'm sorry Pedro but i can't remember which book ... probably the one i read about the 10th legion - the 'spanish'; legion, or 'Caesars legion'. Although there seems to have been many books written about the 10th legion and i don't remember the authors name. Perhaps googling the subject of the origins of the Iberians might yield better results than 'unknown origins' however. It seems completely reasonable to me that they could be descended from the greeks ... who expanded throughout the mediterrainian to turkey, northafrica, and i can easily imagine spain/iberia also. Stated in the book was that the the romans considered the Iberians to be like themselves ... of the same stock, and of greek origin. I can only presume that the book wouldn't have mentioned this unless it had a valid source in some roman writing/literature from the time.
  3. Just a little thing but i've been wanting to mention it for a few days now: In the game (in the history info bit i think) it says how the Iberians are of 'unknown origin'. However i have read (perhaps in one of Tom Hollands books or was that book about the 10th legion?) that the Romans considered the Iberians to be of Greek origin like themselves and in military terms they were respected as tough fighters by the Romans. - just thought i'd mention it
  4. One forum member here said he doesn't use formations. ... HOW? I've looked everywhere in the game for a button or way to turn off formations but i'm stumped. Is there a way or was that forum member some clever dev who coded it into his game somehow? And on a completely different note: Is there a list of keyboard shortcuts somewhere for the atlas editor? Zoot kindly told me that i can use shift + click to pick textures, but i'm sure there are many more. Anyone got a link to some page where these are listed? edit: Oh and on another completely different note: I have an ATI mobility radeon HD 5470 card in my laptop. It's a 1 gig card but kind of a cheapy budget one. Anyway i have no idea what it's capable of regarding shaders and open gl and stuff but i'm just wondering how it should fare with this game? Also i understand this game right now only uses a single processor (i have an i5 m430) but is it also limited to how mutch memory it can use? Well, thanks in advance
  5. Hi, my first post on these forums I downloaded the alpha 12 release a week ago and have been messing with the map (3d world!) editor ever since. And so i want to talk about scenarios, although i suspect they are largely based on random maps any way so i hope my suggestions apply to both scenarios and random maps. Not enough flat pure land map scripts; ie. maps which feature no water. and have a minimum of raised areas (like badlands and canyon ect) or lowered areas (like alpine valley), the ones i can think of which are closest to what i mean are the wooded maps like ardennes forest, deep forest, and latium although i find the forest maps have too mutch ... forest and the pathfinding finds it difficult to navigate these maps in troop formations (trees getting in the way!) - I would like to see a desert type map with minimum raised areas and no water along the lines of badlands ( my fave map of all - i remove the oasis in the middle with the editor and make gaps through the ring of trees so troops can move through). - Which reminds me ... i was playing a badlands match (unaltered map with oasis) and the enemy siege engines were unable to pass through that ring of trees around the oasis. Having found a way inside the ring they then couldn't find a way out on en-route to my gates so the whole formation of troops got stuck for the duration until i wiped them out myself. - I would like to see a flat/no water map which is just a green, temperate grassy map with fewer trees and minimal raised areas. (like the lorraine plain but without rivers). On a different note i find the alpine valley/canyon maps have too many raised areas/cliffs/mountainous bits and pathfinding again find it difficult when moving troops in formation. And also when playing sahel watering holes (another fave) i found a formation of enemy troops, whilst crossing the narrow path through the water all got stuck behind an elephant which was getting in the way, and the whole formation stayed there for the duration of the match i was playing (until i destroyed them myself) ... so either make the paths wider or make sure animals dont spawn on those paths. Aside from that i'm happy with the random map scripts. A suggestion for the map (3d world!) editor: Is it possible to add a texture picker? y'know... like a colour picker except for textures, where you click on a texture and that texture is then applied to your paint brush. Well, that's my lot ... for now edit: Zoot ... thanks for your response below: that makes me really happy!
