  1. The only easy answer I can think of right off the top of my head would be to make, for instance, the Elves super units, but very limited in numbers you could build, whereas say the Orcs would be extremely numerous, but very weak individually. The problem even with that then however is that the Orcs would be able to be everywhere on a map, covering all resources, raiding cheaply and effectively with large numbers of Orcs, and so on. In that scenario a good use of Orcs would win every time.

Now, not much is known about the game atm, how it is going to work at all. However, assuming a Age of X style of gameplay, with Ages to be advanced through, and so on, possibly a solution would be to limit the number of Orcs per Age. So in Age 1 you can have 10, in Age 2 you get +10 Orc population cap, etc.

With regards to the books this would be a plausible solution as well, because the various tribes of Orcs were constantly fighting with each other....only rarely as in the War of the Dwarves and Orcs, the Battle of Five Armies, etc, did the Orcish clans ever retain some semblance of unity.

As to the case of the books, the Orcs were never able to overrun the Elves in part because they feared the power of, for instance, Elrond (case in pt. his power over the Ford, which was strong enough to disable the Nazgul temporarily). Also the Elves were like superheroes compared to Orcs. 1 Elf could easily defeat 3 Orcs. Plus the Orcs had to worry about the allies of the Elves coming to their aid....at least in the earlier days before Men and Elves dirfted apart. And of course, as I already mentioned, because they were at best an unstable union, and any 1 tribe or clan would have been EASILY wiped out.

  2. I personally tend to take a scientific attack on atheists.

If not (a) God, then where did the universe come from? A scientific phenomenon? Ok, but then for even the most basic reactions you need to have an atom or two. So how did the first atoms come to be? You can't make something out of nothing.

The danger is that then you get into ok, so then who created God? And then, ok, who created X who created God? There are some answers IMO that are just not meant to be known...if you think too much about origins of space/time you're bound to get into a loop sooner or later.

  3. Well, this kind of thing has been circulating as an urban legend for years now. As to how reliable the source is......I really don't know. It makes sense, but it could just be a fake story to get attention.

But, if we assume at a basic level that it *is* true, what are your opinions on it?

  4. Source/Full Article: http://www.infowars.com/articles/bb/gov_ca...oke_loggers.htm

What do you guys think about this? Personally I am undecided on it.......on the one hand you have that it is the gov't's responsibility to protect its citizens from terrorism, and to do that they implement tracking. On the other hand, it is my computer, my time, my PRIVATE doings. I don't think Uncle Sam has the right to in essence spy on his citizens.....unless the gov't is going to declare every person in the nation a security threat.

Another interesting point is that you wouldn't think that such tracking would be effective in any case. If terrorists have a whit of intelligence they would use code words and suchlike, they wouldn't be sitting there typing "I am going to blow up NYC tomorrow, what have you got planned?" in any case.

So, I can see both sides, but I guess if I had to fall on one side of the fence or the other, I would say that this is wrong, and that the gov't has no right to do it. What are your opinions?

  5. And futhermore, its not like they'll be able to do anythign about it. Its like a speed limit on our nearby beltway.......yeah every now and then they give out tickets, make arrests, w/e as a token effort, but its not like they can make a significant dent in it. People are still doing, and probably will always do, whatever speed they feel like up there.

  6. it wouldve been infinitely better if they had just included 1 more thing, and/or fixed 1 more thing:

The obvious, MultiPlayer. Even if it was only over LAN, MP woudlve made it sooooooooooo much better. Also, if they had made just one bug fix, namely, fixing the treasure guardians, it would've been much better. I have no idea how hard or easy it will be to defeat guardians now, which means I'll be bound to mess up badfly when I begin playing.

As it is, it is amazing......exciting to think we're only 2 weeks away now. :) w00000000t my smiley how I missed you!!! (firsttime Ive seen this smiley in 2 years!!)
