Zhukstr
what are the system requirements??and so im guessing this game will not be for sale, its free??
Aeros
The system requirements will be more clear when the game is near completion and we finish adding features to it (that tax performance, it changes all the time). But it shouldn't be too different from other games being released at the time. You don't have to worry unless you have a really old computer.
Zhukstr
i have a laptop, Amd Athlon 1500 1.3GHz, 480Mb RAM, SiS 740 32Mb Vid Card.....
Aeros
We recommend a 64MB graphics card or higher. Whether that system will be capable of playing 0 A.D. or not we won't find out until later. I can tell you right now it might be a stretch to try and run the game on that laptop, we will have to see what kind of optimizations we can make. Swordsworn
Will you be offering in-game options so that people with older computers can down grade the graphics?
Historicity
Us owners of SiS Graphics Cards in Laptops ought to write to SiS and tell them to improve their overall performance for PC games. I myself have an SiS M650, and can barely play RTW... It'd be nice if 0 A.D. had a "Graphical Optimization" feature or what not... tone down the graphics to the point where it's like playing WC3 or what not. Good suggestion though... Ykkrosh
The SiS M650 appears to have the basic features that we absolutely require, but it's missing some other pretty important features (like S3TC compressed texture support and a sensible amount of memory) without which the game will run really badly in its normal configuration. We can't have a special mode with low-poly models because we just don't have the resources to work on that, but we can easily reduce the texture quality and the number of decorative map objects (like bits of grass) as well as being able to disable shadows and water reflections, and so the game will let you configure those things. We really don't know how well the final game will run on older hardware, but it's definitely something we're aware of and want to accommodate
