Paal_101
Well here are links to two major archaelogical finds in the last few weeks. One is a recently discovered monument set up by Sulla (Mike calm down! ) to celebrate a victory over a Pontic general in Greece.http://www.ekathimerini.com/4dcgi/_w_artic...8/12/2004_50471Here's the Roman Army Talk forum discussion about it:http://p200.ezboard.com/fromanarmytalkfrm1...icID=1191.topicThe second one is a discovery of a Gallic relgious offering that includes no less than FIVE almost totally intact carnyx - Celtic war trumpets, in addition to 10 swords, and 9 helmets.http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...ry_041127195805And again, here is the RAT discussion:http://p200.ezboard.com/fromanarmytalkfrm1...icID=1181.topicEnjoy! Titus Ultor
Certainly an exceptional find...I wonder if there will be anything they can piece together about these barbarian folk.
Paal_101
Definatley the Celtic find is getting a lot of people excited. Among the helmets was a type not previously encountered. It has a swan built into the bowl that curves up at the front. Probably ceremonial, but its totally new Don't expect it in 0 A.D. though Plus some Celtic standards were found, and that is way cool. Titus Ultor
Will the standards be able to be used in 0 A.D.? Anyway, I hope that the reality of the Celtic people isn't lame. I've always liked the roman-ticized version. Edit: Fixed some hastily made spelling errors, Edited December 11, 2004 by Titus Ultor
Paal_101
At this point there are no plans for standards in Part I, but who knows? Would be nice to have the legions rally around the aquila
Titus Ultor
I don't feel like having my citizen-soldiers having to go back to the ol' farm because their standards got stolen. Though that could be an interesting feature.
Paal_101
LOL no kidding I believe TLA is using standards, although Adam or one of the Tolkien boys would have to confirm that.
Titus Ultor
They could be useful if a morale system was introduced. I don't see much use otherwise. Except in scenarios.
