Suddenly closes when playing multiplayer on Mac.

Basically I really enjoyed playing this game with my friends when I had a windows laptop. Now i have an apple mac and I downloaded it but everytime I try to play online the game crashes, closes suddenly without saying theres any kind of error. 

The weird thing about it its that I can actually play a single player mode without any single problem, but when I try to go online it just wont happen

do you know if there is anyway I could fix this? thank you

The lobby welcome panel mentions this problem for mac users

A quick solution is to download the fgodmod from @ffffffff and use it.
