Suggestion for future Naval Warfare

Hi! this is my first post and just wanted to say that you have an excellent strategy game and well done with it up too now. I would like too suggest if that the naval system of movement and battle is more on the realistic side for example Rise and Fall had an excellent system and maybe you could copy it a little.

Obviously exclude the 3rd person mode part of it. The thing i like about it is the way you can have men on your ship that can board other ships with the rope and gangplank and take them over or they can just destroy it with the ram ability or a built catapult on the back. Would be really cool if something similar was put into 0 AD.

Would this be possible or too much of an effort?

Ramming will be in, as will putting a catapult on-board your ship give it a rock firing ability. Boarding is out for Part 1 as is units standing on deck.

More upgradeability on ships please :D

defense: upgrade unprotected deck with shields?

attack: upgrade arrows with flaming arrows?

attack: upgrade the front of the shi[p with steel for ramming?

speed: upgrade sail with other sail material or sail shape?

speed: upgrade rows with... better rows?

morale: adding imperial flag?
