  1. @Palantius I saw your logo and had an idea. I took it into gimp and made a quick and ugly prototype. This logo contains 0 A D all in one. What do you think, good idea or not so good idea? Edit: I don't actually know how to upload an image directly to this forum so here is a link to imgur. http://i.imgur.com/0VqvXcZ.png
  2. Here is an idea. Repairing could perhaps not fully restore all of the hp. For example a percentage of the damage received during a raid could not be regained(perhaps 10-30%?). Over many attacks this would force the player to rebuild a new building. This allows repairing to be quicker and cheaper while not being overused. It could also be used to balance civilizations (some factions are better at making repairs?). If this were implemented it would be nice to represent the unrepairable hp in the health bar over the building. Any way, just throwing it out there. What do you think?
  3. I assume that walls will be made impassable by the time the beta arrives. Correct?
  4. The things those guys go through. They should make history.
  5. German, Swedish(a little bit from Norway), and Native American(just a little).
  6. Maybe you could only hear them when your zoomed in close to the ship? The farther away you are the softer the sound would be. What would help that is if the song didn't start over every time they click to a new location as long as they are still moving.
  7. Could chickens be corralled and have their eggs harvested? I assume that is how the goats will be milked. Otherwise I see no use for the corrals.
  8. HI all, something came to mind so I thought I would post it. I have heard that rowers on ships would sing in order to keep a steady pace. I am curious to know if this is really the case and if this is within the time period that 0ad is focusing on. Implementing something like this could increase the immersion in the game and also make the player more aware of the existence of the rowers. (if this is historically accurate) Anyway something to think about.
  9. I think in AOEII if there where more units called by the Bell than there was room in the Town center the extra units would garrison inside of the nearest building. (barracks, stable, tower, etc.) Then they would return to work after the bell rang the second time. If they still ran out of room I think the extra units stood helplessly next to the building they tried to enter. Might another stance be Protect? This stance would allow for a stronger unit to follow another (weaker) unit and attack any enemy that may try to kill it. Could also protect buildings.
  10. I have a Dell computer running xubuntu with a Pentium 4 and 256mb of ram. The current pre Alpha of 0ad seems to run OK, albeit a bit slow at the loading screen, startup, and during zooming. Not ideal but possible.
  11. Now I see them. Thanks Ykkrosh and Jeru. I don't know what possessed me to over look the FAQ. Will there be a 2d mode for computers with less than satisfactory hardware? Another question. How will trees behave? One of the things I found annoying in AOE3 was the way the trees acted when they were cut. They would shake, then when all wood was taken from them they would fall and vanish away. I don't know about you but I find that very unrealistic. It should work like this: The tree is chopped at four or five times, and during that time it shakes. Then the tree falls into an area clear of trees, if there are any nearby. Then the villager would begin copping the trunk apart as its laying on the ground. Finally, parts of the tree vanish away as the wood is being collected. Would stumps or leaves be left over?
  12. One more thing. Some questions. I've searched and searched and can't find where it says what the system requirements would be. Even an estimate. Does anyone know what they are or what is estimated they will be? Will 0ad run on my old Dell Dimension 8200 with 256mb ram a Pentium 4(2.26GHz) and a 32Gi hard disk? Or will I have to use something with a little more horsepower. Also, what effect will 0ad being made open-source have on the production of the game. Will it be completed sooner? Will it not do anything at all? Something to think about.
  13. Hello all. This is my first post but I have gone back and read the other pages. It took a while. Anyway, I have an idea that I don't think has been mentioned as of yet. Wouldn't it be cool if you could use your mind to control the units in 0ad? Instead of using the mouse you would think it and it would happen. You would have to use something like This. I do realize that it is most likely not going to happen. It's just an idea. Hopefully it will get the forum talking again.
