  1. weird...I think its corrected now....

when at the login screen i tried ctrl-alt-delete

It changed the login screen to another style login screen and i logged in that way

It didnt reboot so I logged out and logged into another account (my primary account) using the normal login screen...

It logged in fine and didnt reboot

But I got a message saying that my computer had just recovered from a serious error and asking me to send in a report (which I did)

thanx a ton to Jeffrey and MarkT!!!

    EDIT:

It also gave me a crash report saying it was caused by a device driver...

  2. OKay, I've never had any trouble with my computer until now. Everytime I boot it up and then login, it logs in and then reboots the computer....everytime. :)

    I have windows XP Pro.

this is horrible cuz im locked out of my computer and all my stuff....I'm on my sisters old comp right now. ;)

    thx

    Steve

    ;)

  3. religion and state are supposed to be separated ... so it is nothing to do with morals

I hate to bring this up again, but Tim dragged me back into the HoI. (y)

This just simply isnt true....religion was never separated from state in the USA (see my other posts for details whereas im short on time)

  4. (I also voted 8....but yesterday before Nathanael did....just didnt have time to post ;))

Plannning is very important altho often time doesnt allow for it (altho perhaps if I planned I would have time to plan :))..

But a specific example of where it is very important is programming.....the majority of the time is spent planning and not programming...;)

  5. I like to collect mostly pre-1900 OLD coins from european countries, such as GB, Germany/Austria, France, Netherlands/Belgium, Scandinvia, etc...so much history to learn from them :)

some of my favorites in my collection, include:

  6. No, the government has the right to remove rights when an unlawful act has been committed. Sin has absolutely nothing to do with it. But regardless, the last time I checked, murderers and thieves have the right to marry whomever they want(hetero, of course). It puts it into perspective though, doesn't it? A murderer can marry who they want, but an upstanding citizen, who happens to be homosexual, can't.

They're both sinners according to your doctrine, Svede.

The problem here is that there is no reason for a State to consider someone a sinner only because someone considers him so, even if it is written in the Bible, in Al-Quran or other sacred texts.

As I have stated many time in the USA is was wrong based upon the founding, specificallyt the founding of the USA on the Bible....it was not until the twentieth century that courts started changing our country against the constitution and for the hurt of the people ;)

    PS

As a side note, Svede, I find your method of argument to be slightly dishonest, as I alluded to in a previous post which was deleted. What you're doing here is taking my argument, and trying to attach a very negative connotation, the result being that a lot of people will automatically become defensive against. Not wholely unethical, but as I said, I find it to be slightly dishonest(not the first time I've seen you do this).

I would ask that you quit doing this, and rely on the argument itself, not subtle, and subversive, methods. If you can't do this, then I'll be forced to conclude that your argument is weak, and you really don't know why you feel the way you do.

This is COMPLTETELY un-called for.....you are the one who is trying to weaken my arguments by calling them dishonest, whereas I used honest arguments that directly convey my views.....I am sorry that you have to resort to this to debate them..

It may be a sin according to your bible, it's not according to common sense.

Don't confuse common sense with your opinion :drunk:

I haven't seen an answer yet to the question that pro gay marriage/union people have asked so many times here:

What does it hurt you if they can marry or even just have sexual intercourse? Yeah, I know the sin stuff already, but that's not an answer. I mean in the sense of really hurting, something that would be considered criminal.

I have answered this before....as the founding fathers also believed, an immoral nation will suffer and collapse; our freedoms will be destroyed....they believed, as I believe, only by our nation staying within the standards of the Bible will we prosper and last....society is just the first to collapse from this sin.

P.S.Beware that the term "race" has no scientific meaning, but i'm sure you intended it as "group"

I completely agree with you on this. :drunk:

I find it quite annoying to see people calling different nationalities "races"....there is only one race and that is the Human race....which is the whole reason for equality among nationalities :band:

  7. African Americans are a group of people. Homosexuals are a group of people. The only difference is the traits that put them into that group. For African Americans, it's their skin color, for homsexuals, it's their sexual preference.

By this logic, murderers are a group, thieves are a group, etc

The fact is you can classify people who commit a certain type of sin, but it doesnt give them rights...in fact government has the right to remove rights when a sinful or criminal act is taking place...the fact that the government is even allowing them to practice I find quite degrading for the USA :drunk:

  8. I collect coins...was wondering who else might and what they might have collected so far and why you collect them.

I collect them for the historical content and enjoyment I get out of holding a piece of history....besides its fun to collect ;)

....actually, tho, I learn a lot of history from coins :drunk:

    Ill post mine later :band:

  9. Here is what I think is not important:

-The religion of individual founders (most of them weren't important anyways)

-The other works of the founders, for those documents obviously did not 'found' the USA

I bring you back to my earlier point....the founders believed they could NOT create a good government without basing it on christianity and keeping it within the laws of God......they further stated that they indeed found it on the Bible (see below for more info)

On a different note, no one has yet convinced me that the Constitution is based mainly on religion.

Well just wait until I have time to write up what Ive wanted to for some time....all I have given you so far is bits and pieces and not all tied together...:drunk:

  10. yes, you bring up a very good point that I wasnt thinking of - slavery, etc

but in general the people which much more moral and Christian, etc (the founders actually hoped that they could do away with slavery.....George Washington for example treated his slaves well and released them upon his death :drunk:)

  11. separation of powers (three branches of gov't)

I actually read something on that where there is a specific verse that comes from the Bible...will try to find it, but the source I got it from I wont have access to for some time, so Ill need to find another source

the guy i mentioned above, Sir William Blackstone wrote a book on law in the 1600's or 1700's (I think called Blackstone's Commentaries on Law).

This was THE law book for the founding fathers and even for years after the founding law students were made to use it. His ideas were that no human law is allowed to break the laws of God or it is worthless. (paraphrase, but not removing the meaning)...the founders believed this wholeheartedly..;)

I would like to see examples of all of these quotes, and seeing nine out of ten sentences in the Constitution have to be indirect quotes for your statement to be true, there are a lot

I didnt say that the study was on the quotes from the constitution, but from their works in general.

I think you're probably missing something. The point is what is written in the constitution, not what your founders believed in general. If the founders were all Christians, if they believed in the 10 commandments, but if it's not word by word in the constitution it means that it should stay as it is.

Nope, not missing anything except for HW time :drunk:

But the point is that MANY times the founders were quoted saying that goverment can only last and be good IFF it is founded upon the Bible and the people follow the principles of a Christian nation....not only did they directly state this, but guys like Sir William Blackstone, from whom they studied law, believed this as well.....

assuming that we are only going by the other writings of the founders and that you cant link up the stuff in the constitution to the Bible (which you can, but I'm focusing on another point for simplicity), then HOW could the founders create a government that they feel would not last?? how could they not do as their conscience and beliefs showed them that the Bible MUST be in the constitution for the government to be good/??? they COULDNT (unless you hate the founders, but then whats the point of being an American ).....:band:

imo, 18th century mentality and society != today's mentality and society

IMHO 18 century mentality and society > today's mentality and society :drunk:

  12. now, does anyone still believe that the 10 Commandments are in the Constitution?

The point is NOT that the commandments were put word-for-word into the constitution but that the constitution was founded upon the laws of God and the Bible.

Or another good question, what do you think influenced the Constitution?

From a University of Houston Study:

the study was on 15,000 works by the founding fathers and took 10 years......they found 3,154 quotes that the founding fathers used....here is their findings on them:

34% were direct quotes from Bible

8.3% were from Baron Charles de Montesquieu

7.9% were from Sir William Blackstone

    2.9% were from John Locke

when they took a closer look, they found:

94% were either a direct OR indirect quote from the Bible :drunk:

  13. And why are you accusing Gore of cheating in the elections? Do you have any proof at all?

The Gore supporters KEPT on insisting on recounting the ballots in Florida, each time changing the rules to make it better for him (altho EVERY count was still in favor on Bush).

Also, they tried "getting rid" [i.e., not counting, saying they werent valid, etc] of the military votes in Florida (from Military people overseas etc) and thats just plain WRONG. The military people got VERY upset at the democratic party over this.

here is one source for info that i found (altho I had gotten this info from other sources....just looked for a source to give you guys since my sources were radio and other sources I dont recall)
