  1. Some sort of depth indicator (for a really easy one, try fog) would add a lot to the scene. You can't really tell where the legion is in the mountains, and the whole thing looks a bit flat. I know that this sort of camera angle isn't typical of gameplay, but still...

  2. @MrBlack103: Not a bit likely, as I'm not a team member. That might be called a fanmodel, I guess.

@timaeus: Siege needs to be balanced out - perhaps by mounted units - so that it's also possible to resist a siege. Otherwise, look forwards to Catapult Rushes.

  3. I want a game where player-built cities eventually look like this - rather than, as they normally do, like clusters of buildings thrown together randomly.

My main problem with the walls is that they look like some sort of gray cement. Probably they would look better with rounded edges.

Another point: roads. Will you have naturally-occurring roads between buildings, or will there just be the typical grass-and-dirt everywhere?

And finally, the towers look odd. They should have ladders, or at the least people in them.

  4. My perfect RTS would be a combination of Pharaoh and Age of Empires, with just one faction, but with civilization modification choices (similar to AoM's god system) at every age-up.

The idea of adding an FPS mode has merit, but only in light of a much slower overall gameplay. Otherwise it would be too easy to lose track of the global situation whilst mucking about in first person. In fact, in a slower RTS having something to do for distraction could have a very positive effect. But in a typical speed-oriented game it's more annoying than welcome.

  5. 66 pop.

    I counted 22 elephants - a couple behind others.

As a thought, maybe large animals like elephants could display their health in terms of different, more-damaged-looking textures? It would be amazing to see bloodied, battle-weary elephants returning from a fight...

  6. Hmm... you've got some shadow artifacts there... (specifically, the palm trees' shadows near the top-left of the screen cut off strangely; and the shadows of various hills.)

Other than that, it could use some more "sunset-ish" color tints. I seem to remember a reddish sunset shot in the gallery...

  7. I actually don't prefer it that way, being a cristian whose outdated primary school textbooks always said AD.

My high school teacher got really heated at me when I said AD is all.

The real reason the "CE" addition was made: People who want to forget the Pope, Martin Luther, and Paul (among others) ever existed. Ignore such people; in the grand scheme of things, their personal biases don't matter.

    (On topic)

All I know about the release date is, when it does come out, there will be a gaming revolution the likes of which the world has never known. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the owners of future multiplayer account names like Gabriel and Michael turn out to be ... not quite human. (y)

  8. I see fallen palm leaves...

    ...a chopped down tree...

...the palm leaf textures in your palm forest terrain look horribly outsized...

...Nice blood, except for one little thing - some of the blood sprites cut through the terrain. It's way too obvious that they're flat sprites.

...Your general graphical quality is high (especially the soldiers - bravo!), but the top sections of the palm trees could use a rework to make them smoother - right now, they look like they came straight from 2003. Especially with the comparative size of these palm trees to the units on screen, the lack of detail is quite jarring. (the detritus section, not the leaves or trunk)

  9. There's somebody offering at least two "copies" of 0 AD for trade; just thought you might want to know as it seems highly fishy, if not downright illegal. Of course, this might just be your secret "get into Beta free" idea; I don't know.

  10. I continue to be impressed by your dense forestation - especially after trying to create something similar myself.

Will houses require food upkeep? Or is that too close to the City Builder genre for you?

  11. One thing that hasn't been implemented properly (in my opinion) in an FPRTS is unit control. I mean, it shouldn't be that hard - just limit the number of units under your command to 5 or so, handle selection with hotkeys (1 SHIFT 2 SHIFT 3 to select 1-3), and right-click to order them to go to the mouse cursor.

Instead, we have "charge" and "follow me" - archaic.
