  1. I think regicide should be with kings/emperors that can't fight (or at least are barely useful).

The regicide mode could also have 'spies' so that you can easily find out where enemy rulers are hiding.

This could be a temporary technology (you hire spies to find out where the ruler(s) are hiding, but you only see them for a short period of time and if you want to reveal them again you have to hire spies again).

    That would be unrelistic.

Kings can certaintly fight and should.

And why not have real spy units that you can spy with?

  2. This is a great thread.... I like the Byzantines. I only wished I had all this detailed art when I was studying them.

The Byzantines did indeed inherit the Greek phalanx that the brunt of the Byzantine army besides the cataphract were a type of hoplite hybrid especially under Justinian.

I would not clasify them being Roman in the truest sense, but they just like their big sister copied and used, hacked, changed, modify the strategies, weapons, tactics, army the lot to be something that was more of an elite force with superior quality rather than massive numbers of poor equiped soldiers. Think of Nazi Germany vs Russian serfs.. Larl

Quality vs numbers and the Byzantine army were the biggest expence to the Byzantine Empire... They were eventially dealt heavy blows against the deadly Turkish horse archers which eventually shot the once mighty and potent Byzantine army to pieces.

So yes Byzantium was Rome in a way, but they simply were the twilight of her eastern Empire...

  3. I don't know if this the right place to post this but anyway.

When try and open ActorEditor it kicks up an error3: the system cannot find the path specified blabla

But this somehow stops pyrogenesis from executing throwing up way to many errors to list them all here.

    This is Alpha 15

  4. I disagree.

It has everything to do with how a culture fights. The picts and the Britons fought in the forests well and they beat the Romans at every time. The Romans did not fight in trees. The Britons did. There's the culture difference.

What I don't agree with is the "antibonus" bit.

If one team gains attack in the forest, the other shouldn't have decreased stats... That's the part that doesn't make sense.

  5. Okay I am also an RTS vetran.

First of all... RTS is niether total war nor unlimited gungho RoN style ... 0AD is exactly like AOE and an RTS... A TRUE RTS is supposed to be, economy and military managment.

Where's strategy involved in a game with unlimited resources???

    It becomes boring.

RoN and Empire Earth II are poor examples of an RTS. Unrelistic, lack of features and totally lost all perspectic and notion of what an RTS is.

What I will agree on is the introduction of caravans. But from market to market. NOT like aoe 3 that's stupip.

I end this comment by thanking the 0 AD team for coding the spirit of beloved AOE in this game andfor staying true RTS fans :)

  6. Possibly more volunteers the better... And the way you get them is by sending word out, advertising.

All those guys still on AOK heaven making mods, some are programmers need to come and give this game a serious look. This is the best game yet since aoe 1 and 2 with lots of potential and leniency ;)

And take my word for it I too, am an aoe veteran. WOLOLO.... ;)

  7. Romans need a special barracks to train mercenary troops like that of the enemy.

So like the Romans can build a Galic barracks to train Gaul warriors to fight as auxiliary...

But why can't the Romans just have their own auxiliary unit?

Spearmen with chainmail and rounded shields.

Cheap and weak and fast to train
