  1. Hey Everybody,

Well, it has been 1-2 years and most of you have probably forgotten who I am. I used to be a regular and lined up as a Mapper for TLA long long ago (as well as having more posts that anybody, including Tim, hahaha :) )

Things got a little busy and I neglected WFG, hehe, sorry guys! Was talking to Mythos again today and figured I would at the very least resume posting here (god knows I have had more forum returns that the Stones have had return concerts!).

So, what have I been up to? You all probably remember me as being fairly business targeted!

When I left WFG I had freshly started a Webhosting Business. I continued to grow that business for a while, and it turned out being very successful. As a result, I expanded into hosting Game Servers as well, which also was rather successful. After about 2 years of solid growth, I sold these companies early / mind 2005 for a very nice figure and to concentrate on other ventures (keep in Mind, I was still about 16-17 at this age, and still in High School).

Hot off this I entered into the first ever Young Achievement Australia team from my School / entire area. For those of you that do not know, YAA is a practical Youth Business Skills Program aimed at 17-18 year olds, where Schools must enter in Groups of 7+ (average is about 15-20 people) and nominate a board of directors for their business. Each team is assigned 3-4 business mentors who are successful wtihin the local area. The company then has to sell shares to raise their capital (to ensure an equal playing field, no donations / parents funds), develop a unique product / concept and use their share capital to create, market and sell their product. Teams compete against eachother in regions, and at the end, are judged compared to one another. At the end of the competition, teams must also liquidate and of course provide a great return to shareholders. The process lasts about 8 months.

Due to my background with business, I was placed in the position of Managing Director. We competed against about 20-25 teams (who all had about 15 members, we only had 7 - we started with about 12 but I get trigger happy when it comes to firing haha!). The team I managed were incredibly successful, creating aunique product with the support of local tv personalities, and managing to negotiate exclusivity with both the local radio and newspapers. As a result we were actually the winning team (Company of the Year), a huge achievement considering the quality of some of the private schools within the city. We were also recognized as the team with the Best Marketing, Best media Promotions and as a result I was nominated as Young Business Person of the Year.

I was involved in other programs through this year, such as Winning Both Lions Youth of the Year Speaking Title and Bond University Law Trial Competitions within my region.

Following this my final year of Schooling had begun (the HSC) and was planning on concentrate on that. However, due to my dominance the previous year in YAA I was asked back to act as one of the Business Mentors for the 2006 team from my local area, whom I supported strongly.

I then concentrated on completing my HSC (finally!) and scored an average of 93-95%, landing in the top band in all of my counted subjects but one.

Here is when I probably should have had time to come back to WFG, but noooo! It's not that easy! Unlike most school leavers who take time off before work, I got straight to it. I entered into a sales position for a Marketing Company and within 2 weeks was the top selling rep within the company, and accordingly promoted to one of the Managers and Sales Trainers. I continued successfully in this role until the end of 2006.

Early 2007 (I still feel weird saying 2007!) I was nominated for the Young Citizen of the Year for my local area, due to previous success's, and won of course! Accordingly, I have now been asked to represent on the Youth Advisory Committee.

And that pretty much catches us up to now, whee I have a bit more time on my hands! I thought I would give Uni a bit of a go, but as expected, I am going Stir Crazy and am getting back into running my own ventures again! I am at the stage now where I do have a fairl yloyal backing to support through these ventures and am tossing up between taking on an investor, or more likely, borrowing a nice lump sum through business finance (bit risky considering I am only 18, however the loan has been approved if I want it).

And yeah, figured I would catch everybody up on what I have been doing, how has everybody else been?

    -Alex

  2. Well,

When I returned to WFG, alot of you snigged out that I run a Gameserver Provider and have been hounding me for the links, so..I asked Tim and am posting the link for you all.

    The URL is http://www.fragamania.com

I started this company not to long ago however have a great rap, stability and pricing. (Yes, WFG members are eligible for a slight discount, just e-mail me and we can work something out B) )

I decided to make this topic just so that all of you could see the URL instead of asking me on msn (however, feel free to do so)

    Cheers Guys,

    Alex

  3. Oh well, ok then guys, lets see, what has Alex been busy with?

Exize Hosting - http://www.exize.com (my website hosting company, around 1 year old now :) ) (and yes, I hsot a few WFG'ers)

FragAMania Gameservers - http://www.gameservers.com (started this around 3 weeks ago and already got a good strong client base)

I also, as many of you know, runa privatised firm (I will make a public website soon), that deals with Programming, Website Design, Outsourced Technical Support, Company Technical Support, Dedicated Servers, Server Management etc, we mainly deal with companies direct.

Also just the normal stuff, Tennis Coach, am now in the Fire brigade, been keeping busy.

As for the site I am bringing back, I am still negotating a price, no need to create a hype over nothing.

  4. Well,

I know I have not been around, but now I have got my Uber ADSL connection I will begin my daily spam runs again (lol). Is it nearly time for scn designers like myself to join into the development?

Well, I have been off severely busy, I have started a few new companies (which I better not mention, by memory there is a non advertizing rule) and am now planning on bringing back something we all used to love, but died off as of late.

Well, gues im just welcoming myself back for the 480th Time,

Most of you probbaly dont know good old Larikan Alex anymore,

So hi to those that dont.

  5. Yes.

A Paying Host gets quicker support (I have 4-5 support staff), constant upgrades, private help, faster servers (free hosts over populate and generally have slower connections), more features, better control panel and no ads :)

beware though, WHT can be biased as well.

  6. Hey Guys.

Just to stray off topic a bit.

Many of you asked about Khazun's joke site. It is nearly, almost, positively done.

I just need somebody who is wiling to buy 1-2 small ads on the site to help me buy a better script, or somebody who knows php to write me something half decent, and it will be online (refer to appox page 5 from when I mentioned this.)

    Just PM me if interested.

Since we are on a trail of lame jokes, let me post my best lame joke.

What did the farmer say when he lost his tractor?

    A: Where is my Tractor?

  7. This sint realy computer related randy.

The computer desk seems ot be for help. This is more general-its a mix game / logger / team effort :P

Please perhaps move it to fun and games might be more appropirate-it is a bit of a game :P

  8. Hey Guys,

I found out about Whatpulse.org , and made a team.

I thought WFG might be very interested in joining. If WFG members do join my WhatPulse Team, then I will gladly plug WFG in the description :P

    Anyway,

    Whatpulse is

Do you feel that you could have moved your hands, keystroke by keystroke, across the USA twice every day? Interested in finding out just how much you type a day?

    What is WhatPulse?

The purpose of WhatPulse is simply to collect statistics about your computer behavior. Some people use it to determine how long they've worked on something, like a programming project, a school essay, chatting by all means.

WhatPulse opens a so-called "keyhook" when it's booted, which listens to incoming Windows messages about the keyboard, the keyhook sends these messages to the program itself, and the program first determines if the key pressed is a proper key (Every standard keyboards' keys are counted) and then simply does PreviousKeyCount + 1.

Pulsing: When you "pulse", you're actually sending your keycounts in the program to the server along with other information about your Account, so the server can decide where to put the keycount. If the pulse goes according to plan, the server sends back an "OK", and the client's keycount is reset to 0 (zero), and your previous keys are added to your profile in the server database!

And for all you people who are thinking "oeh mi god a keylogger, no way!", well, exactly, No way. WhatPulse is not and never will be any sort of keylogger, it does not collect the keys you type, but only how many keys you type.

I have been using this program for a while now (just a few weeks actually) and it's really cool. I love keeping track of how much I type and click, and you can start up a team to 'compete' with the other teams based on how much you type. For us forum junkies it'd be possible to get the team up there if we got enough people to join.

So if I started up an IW Nation WhatPulse team, would you join?

    if you'd like to join:

Go to http://whatpulse.org/download.php and download WhatPulse.

Install WhatPulse and set it up on your computer.

Make an account (not sure if it makes you do that first).

On the left side, click 'Teams' and find a team to join, in description type in exize.

The Ninja Karate Monkeys tema should appear. Click to join it. Then run the winapp :P

In your taskbar you should see a 'W' - that's WhatPulse. If you double click on it, it Pulses, sending the current recording of keystrokes and clicks to the server, thus updating your stats and our team stats. You can modify how often it pulses (if you want to set it up to do it automatically) by right clicking the W and then going into Settings.

If you have any questions regarding this, please post in this thread and I'll do my best to answer!

Thanks for helping out guys-let me knwo if you sign up so I know if to write WFG on it.

    Alex

  9. It is time for Khazy's newest joke.

How to Please Your I.T. Department

    01. When you call us to have your computer moved, be sure to leave it buried under half a ton of postcards, baby pictures, stuffed animals, dried flowers, bowling trophies and children's art. We don't have a life, and we find it deeply moving to catch a fleeting glimpse of yours.

    02. Don't write anything down. Ever. We can play back the error messages from here.

    03. When an I.T. person says he's coming right over, go for coffee. That way you won't be there when we need your password. It's nothing for us to remember 700 screen saver passwords.

    04. When you call the help desk, state what you want, not what's keeping you from getting it. We don't need to know that you can't get into your mail because your computer won't power on at all.

    05. When I.T. support sends you an E-Mail with high importance, delete it at once. We're just testing.

    06. When an I.T. person is eating lunch at his desk, walk right in and spill your guts right out. We exist only to serve.

    07. Send urgent email all in uppercase. The mail server picks it up and flags it as a rush delivery.

    08. When the photocopier doesn't work, call computer support. There's electronics in it.

    09. When something's wrong with your home PC, dump it on an I.T. person's chair with no name, no phone number and no description of the problem. We love a puzzle.

    10. When an I.T. person tells you that computer screens don't have cartridges in them, argue. We love a good argument.

    11. When an I.T. person tells you that he'll be there shortly, reply in a scathing tone of voice: "And just how many weeks do you mean by shortly?" That motivates us.

    12. When the printer won't print, re-send the job at least 20 times. Print jobs frequently get sucked into black holes.

    13. When the printer still won't print after 20 tries, send the job to all 68 printers in the company. One of them is bound to work.

    14. Don't learn the proper term for anything technical. We know exactly what you mean by "My thingy blew up".

    15. Don't use on-line help. On-line help is for wimps.

By the way, My jokesite opens soon
