My ships do not get between a narrow passage way between two islands. This could be because it is to wide for the passage, but the ship does not look for another way.

When I create a random islands map for a match. The AI players do not make any docks, so they just take all resources of there home island an do nothing else. Reproduced this twice. Example of island with no dock:
