lilstewie
I noticed the curved sword for the Maruyan looks like a copy of the western one. The hilt for example is different in the Indian one.

Enrique
Easy Could you indicate which ones do we need? just that last one?
lilstewie
Easy Could you indicate which ones do we need? just that last one?Yeah, just with out the medieval carvings. Make it longer like this example. Longer than the Kopis. Edited January 24, 2013 by lilstewie
lilstewie
I have mentioned this before about these curved swords aren't really historically accurate for this period. Most of the soldiers are carrying these swords.http://huntington.wm...79&detail=large Edited January 25, 2013 by lilstewie

Mythos_Ruler
We could do the long curved swords or go with broad swords, as shown (sheathed) in all of the references. It would also be good to give sheathed sword props to most of the other units, as archers and other soldiers tend to be shown carrying a sword at their hips. lilstewie
Here's two handed battle axes. From Ajanta Cave 10, 1st-2nd century BC. Edited January 25, 2013 by lilstewie
Jayp
Might be a little high poly for a weapon but here's what i've got so far Tris: 492Quite new, so any feedback is greatly appreciated
Enrique
That's too much detail for a weapon. Consider the normal camera zoom level, you will not be able to see so much detail even at full zoom. The blade shape looks good though. Try to do it under 70 tris
Jayp
welp tried (and failed) lol Here's 71 tris:Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Enrique
There's no need to add thickness to the blade, is not going to be noticed. Also the parts of the sword do not need to be part of the same mesh (but it should be from the same object), that will help you with topology. Jayp
So the blade should basically just be a plane?
Enrique
The blade should have more than one triangle to make the form, but there's no need for thickness
Jayp
Right, but it should only be on essentially two axes. For example: right now I took away the thickness and all the verts have the same y value, but the blade is at 11 tris. Not sure if this is what you meant (without thickness)
lilstewie
I think you should make it based on 12.This image shows some of the weapons on the Sanchi Stupa.Fig: . आयुधानि On the sculptures of Sanchi (सांची) (. 3rd century BC) and Udayagiri (उदयगिरि) (4th century BC.) illustrated weapons [Credit: <Egerton, Wilbraham Egerton, Earl 1832-1909>: A description of Indian and Oriental armor: illustrated from the collection formerly in the India Office, now exhibited at South Kensington, and the author's private collection, with a map, twenty-three full-page plates (two colored) , and Numerous woodcuts, with an introductory sketch of the military history of India / by the Right Hon Lord Egerton of Tatton. - New ed - London: Allen, 1896. - Figure 2]http://www.payer.de/.../amara2142f.htm Edited February 4, 2013 by lilstewie
