Problem with starting a game for the new Rise of the East mod

I have a problem with the Rise of the East mod. When I got it to work, i was going to start a game on the map "Rise of the East Demo", so i started the game, and it started to load a bit, then it went black and an error msg poped up. I thought it was just something weird, so I tried a diff map with diff civs and it poped up again. I'm assuming it has to do with the mod, what do i do?

Is this the only DL? (2 yrs old?) Anything newer w/ the buildings and the foliage and everything?

There's a thread for Rise of the East here with the latest progress reports (most recent was Jan 2, 2012.) That is still the only download ATM.
