zyli
I'm compiling 0ad on Debian ('svn update' commands, etc.). The version hasn't changed for a while now (October 18th?). I see: Quote release-0.28.0, 981b3 According to '0ad/trunk/build/build_version/build_version.txt': Quote L"release-0.28.0, 981b3b898e" Similarly, in '~/.local/state/0ad/log/userreport_hwdetect.txt'. However, on the website https://gitea.wildfiregames.com/0ad/0ad, there are new commits almost daily (last one: cb58116270). I also found this: https://gitea.wildfiregames.com/0ad/0ad/src/branch/release-0.28.0 Hence my questions: Does this mean that version 0.28.0 will be released soon? But the numbering was supposed to be different – 28.0?
Gönndolsalv
I think this might answer your question.
Classic-Burger
https://gitea.wildfiregames.com/0ad/0ad/issues/8446 Release process. It's a shame there's no coherent communication system. People don't know what's happening with the game because it doesn't happen outside of the development community or this forum. I don't know how to prepare people to expect a release. No expectation no hype.

Gönndolsalv
I would agree. I know about the upcoming release because I visit Gitea from time to time, but you can't expect that from everyone. I'm not sure if there's a better way to communicate this than by announcing it on the forum and perhaps on social media. The only other thing I can think of is informing players in the bottom right-hand corner when launching the game that they could help test a new release version.
