  1. You raise a great point. Just because the previous attempt to raise funds was unsuccessful doesn’t mean the idea itself is flawed. It’s entirely possible that the process was poorly managed, or that the right strategy wasn’t used at the time. Fundraising can be a complex process, and success often depends on timing, approach, and the people managing it. Rather than dismissing fundraising altogether, it could be beneficial to focus on finding someone with the right expertise. A skilled fundraising manager could make a big difference in securing the necessary resources, especially if they have a solid understanding of what investors are looking for in a project like this. You’re absolutely right that it’s crucial to recognize the need for funding and to explore how it can be achieved, rather than just assuming it's not an option. By identifying the specific issues with the previous attempt, we can gain insight into what went wrong and develop a more successful strategy moving forward. The key is to learn from past mistakes and keep pushing forward with new ideas and approaches.
  2. It’s awesome to see your detailed work on creating a dynamic economic system! You’ve clearly put a lot of thought into how resources and the economy interact, especially using the market laws of supply and demand based on population. The method you've implemented for adjusting resource prices according to availability is a smart way to simulate real-world economic dynamics. Your next steps, like developing the UnitFinance Component to track individual entities' earnings and spending, sound really interesting. It would add a great level of depth and realism, especially if you can break it down into different categories like workers, traders, and government entities. Linking money supply as a percentage of GDP or as tax collection is a really innovative way to tie everything together. It could open up a lot of opportunities for further gameplay mechanics, such as managing the economy or making strategic decisions based on the financial health of the civilization. If you’re looking for advice or collaboration, I'd suggest keeping a keen eye on how each component interacts, especially when introducing new variables like taxes or different economic roles. It could get complex quickly, but it also adds a lot of potential for interesting gameplay. Good luck with the next steps—looking forward to seeing how this evolves!
  3. I totally agree with your thoughts on the AI. Currently, it seems that the "Very Hard" setting isn't as challenging as it should be for pro players, and adding more strategic depth would definitely make it more interesting to practice against. The points you've listed, like mismanaging units and poor strategic decisions, are pretty noticeable, and fixing these would make the AI feel much more like an intelligent opponent. If the AI could adapt more dynamically and adjust its strategies based on the player's actions (like making larger pushes, better use of formations, or knowing when to retreat), it would add a lot more depth to the game. The idea of giving it a cavalry or archer rush feature sounds like a good way to diversify its tactics and make it a real challenge. Increasing the gather bonus to 100% could be a good start, but as you said, it's not just about the resources—it's about how the AI behaves in combat and strategy. And I like the idea of the "Very Easy" AI doing small rushes; it would definitely help beginners get better without feeling overwhelmed. Hopefully, the devs take note of this, as it would really improve the game for higher-level players.
  4. It sounds like your pfSense firewall might be blocking some required connections for 0 A.D. to work properly. Since it works at home without port forwarding, it's likely using UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) or NAT-PMP, which pfSense does not enable by default. Here are a few things you can check: 1. Enable UPnP/NAT-PMP Go to Services → UPnP & NAT-PMP in the pfSense web interface. Check Enable UPnP & NAT-PMP and allow access from your local network. Save & Apply the settings, then restart your game and try again. 2. Check Firewall Rules Navigate to Firewall → Rules → LAN. Make sure there's a rule that allows outgoing traffic from your client PC to the internet (for all ports). If your firewall blocks UDP connections by default, add a rule to allow UDP traffic for the game. 3. Manually Forward Ports (If Needed) If UPnP doesn’t work, try forwarding the ports manually: UDP 20595 (for hosting a game) TCP/UDP 20595 (for joining a game) Go to Firewall → NAT → Port Forward in pfSense and create forwarding rules for these ports to your PC’s local IP address. 4. Check the Outbound NAT Mode Go to Firewall → NAT → Outbound If it's set to Manual, try switching it to Hybrid mode and apply the changes. If none of these steps work, you can check the pfSense system logs (Status → System Logs → Firewall) to see if any connections related to 0 A.D. are being blocked. Let me know if you need more details!
