My namesake!

the blue is Lapis Lazuli
it is that color in real life.
i think the building outside the walls should be made better, no offense, but it looks really crappy.
also, i have been obsessed with 0ad 4 a while now, but i am still waiting for a mac version to come out. i seem to recall that there was a pc release a while ago, but what about Mac!
-
that village aint gonna be peaceful much longer
-
also i dont think any1 would actually waste citizens clearing away the rubble unless there was a reward offered, say a 50% chance of finding some of a resource when u did
Also i believe the Ishtar Gate was built in Mesopotamia, which the persians conquered. however they wouldn't have a reconstruction of it in a persian city. i also think there are too many blue striped awnings. i get the feeling one of the makers of the game has a fetish for striped blue awnings
on a different note, i like the wall with the soldiers on it right next to the gate. i have seen pictures of that wall in real life before, but i forget its name (if it has one). and the lion, thats a nice touch. but i kind of think that cramming so many famous things from real life into 1 town is a little much. a question to conclude my long ramble: will u be able to build wonders? like the Gate of Ishtar, would that be a wonder? because otherwise there would be no point in building it, right? or would u just be building a wall, and have the option of making a gate for people to pass through? wouldnt there be a lot of gates of ishtar then?

p.s: are those guys with the wickerwork shields immortals? did the persians still have those guys that late?
-
lol
greek fire?
anyway, i love the shot, but it seems too "perfect" if you get what i mean. no terrain, nothing except for perfect flat out desert, lame macedonians poning, and dumb persians dying. (my biases may make me sound more criticizing than i really am)

GO GREEKS! i love the artwork. only 1 thing strange, the soldiers look like they are in battle stance. a little strange, no? also it would be cool if the amphitheatre had people in it, even though that would juxtapose the over large size of the normal units. why are the soldiers outside a theatre, anyway?
-
a few things: 1, the terrain is great but it looks like rock, not swamp. 2, the rock/swamp terrain looks like its all in a box shape, kind of unrealistic. 3, the terrain looks like it was made exactly for this one fight, because it is the exact same size as the armies and everybody fits perfectly (kind of unrealistic). 4, will terrain affect troop speed and attack? E.G these guys, would they be slower because with heavy armor they would sink into the muck?
other than my constant criticism, awesome work!

is that a manatee? wtf?
-
i agree. iv lost entire armies that way
i can see Boudicca, and she looks great, but 2 things: first, i her chariot is nice, but if it really is that fancy than i think it would not be battle worthy, it should stay behind the lines.
also is there a single player story line? i was wondering because if there are heroes, there should be a plot line

Rout!

I have a kwestion: are the roman soldiers retreating on their own, or did the person making the screenshot merely order them back? that would be really cool if there was a retreat factor; say if u were attacking with 30 pop against like 120 pop, would ur soldiers retrea?

Yes: the Spartans were famed for their prowness at land, while Themistokles son of Neokles (my namesake) built up Athens' navy. Together they could have done incredible things, as the Athenians also were great merchants however, it was not to be...
also a question that was just brought to mind by HistGamer's question: the Spartans were famed for battle on land, but not for their numbers; by all accounts they were lacking in population around the time of the Peloponnesian and Persian wars, due to the uprisings of Helots and constant battle. Why do the Spartans have more men?

(sorry but when it comes to greeks i am utterly obsessed)

the hoplites are nice, except the phalanx is really thin, one charge would break through and then the celts with their superior manuverability would wheel around and slaughter the hoptlites, you need the defensive wall to be stronger. also the armies should be farther apart because if the celts charged the front row of hoplites wouldnt have to lower the spears. plus all the crests on the helmets are the same, in reality the leader guy in the front should have a helmet. and where are the minoan archers, theban cavalry, and javelineers?
-
it also wont load for me
-
also, how do you quote and add smileys?
-
"That is true, they always liked to FACE their enemy unlike the sneaking Iberians or British Celts And they were more out front about wanting your territory than say.....Athens"
Athens was a diplomatic city-state who didnt go around slaughtering celts here and there. the romans whole civilization was based on a rape of an entire city, for Zeus' sake!

The greek phalanx was extremely vulnerable to being flanked or attacked from behind. Will there be a flanking bonus in game?
