How am I wrong? For audio, the only pentium that doesn't beat all athlons (and only getting beat by an overclocked athlon at that) in audio encoding is 2.8. For video, the pentiums are still faster, though not by as large a margin.
The 2.8 costs $196 at newegg, the 3.06 costs 265, and the athlons cost at the most 220 (32bit) or vary varying prices for the 64's: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?...20&Order=priceD
Now again, where was I wrong? I never mentioned price you know...
I hope you noticed, the AMD 64 had to be overclocked to stay with the Intels in that Report. Don't go believing Tom's Hardware too much. I find a lot of thier columns questionable. Like hiding an overclocked CPU in a test and putting small print that it was over clocked, hoping no one would see it.

This is easy. AMD. I have three intel computers myself and i still go for AMD. I have never had an AMD, but i would still say that an AMD is better and this is why:
1. AMD processors are more efficient and faster than intel processors.
2. AMD processors are more affordable than intel processors.
3. AMD processors are overclockable and intel processors aren't.
4. AMD processors are generally are more technologically advanced than intel processors of higher specs.
5. AMD processors are better at processing graphics than intel processors.
That sounds about right. Too bad i have only intel processors. I am not saying that intel sucks, i am just saying that they are not as good as leading AMD processors.
You know, every forum I belong to, this debate goes on and on.
I have two AMDs:
Athlon XP 2600+
Asus A7N8X Delux MOBO
Barton 2500+ @ 2300Mhz
Soltek MOBO
I have three Intel:
P4 2.2A
Asus MOBO
P4 2.4C @ 3600Mhz (3.6Ghz)
Asus P4P800 Dlx MOBO
P4 3.2C
Asus P4C800 Delux MOBO
To Say one over clocks better than anouther, is simply not true. They both do very well.
Cheers!

Welcome to WFG, Xtreme_Computing. Have you checked out 0AD and TLA yet?
Nope, don't even know what they are.

Hi All,
Just stopped by to check out Wildfire.
Have any PC questions, let me know and I'll answer the ones I can.

Well, time to run some tests:
Download Ad Aware 6 from http://www.download.com make sure you update it, then run the program to scan your system. Follow instructions.
Open Task Manager and see how many processes are running, should not be more than 12-15.
Turn off unneccesary applications in control panel\admin services\services

Hi All,
Coming in 2004:
-Motherboards are changing form factor to a sleeker design, promises to run cooler than present.
-Since the introduction of SATA Hard Drives and RAID controller, manufacturers are promising Serial ATA Generation 2. This will replace the current SATAs that run at 150Mbps with a 300Mbps version.
PCI-x release date is sometime early summer.
NVidia is promising a new line of DX9 compatible (no software cheat) line of cards
Should be a fun year.

Amd Or Intel?

Um...I don't think I missed the point. I understand that AMD has a 64 out.
Your diagnostic of CPU only is only partially correct, if a pc only reliad on the CPU, AMD would have it hands down, but, Intel chips (Newest) run at 800 FSB (200 Quad Pumped) This allows two main things to happen, one: RAM can run at 400FSB in a true Dual Channel Mode, Second: Page File can access the CPU faster, almost 2x the speed of a 400FSB AMD.
Like I said before, AMD and Intel are both good. Just be happy they are competing.
