How do you get them off?
-
This may be the wrong place to post a question like this, so feel free to move it.
Also, this may be a really dumb question. However, I recently downloaded the Alpha 15 for MacOSX, but don't know how to get guys onto ships/off islands, though I'm sure this is quite possible. How can I do it?

Sorry for the lack of clarity. When I click "Wiki/Trac" on the game's website homepage, then click on the "0 A.D. Gameplay Manual," then click on "Basic Gameplay," I get a 404 Page Not Found error: http://trac.wildfiregames.com/wiki/Manual_BasicGameplay
And I saw the manual button in the game once you mentioned it. I apologize for my hastiness. Thanks for your help.

I can't seem to find a general help document that details out things. Is that because it doesn't exist yet? The main help file gives me a 404 when I try to view it. I'm not sure how to do stuff like open gates or change my civilization, but that might be because this is still in the Alpha stages. Thanks!

When I startup the game, I get this message at the top of the screen:
Audio has been disabled, due to problems with OpenAL on OSX
Anybody know how I can fix this on OSX? Thanks!

Oops, yeah I meant the other way around.
Where should the customized local.cfg file go, Kimball? I'm not sure where "~/.config/0ad/config/local.cfg" is, and that's where I'm supposed to put it on Linux and Mac. Sorry for my incompetence in this area.

I don't know for sure as I'm not a Mac user, but the built files should still be there even if the computer shut down (as long as it didn't shut down while building).
No, it did have the built files but I didn't know how to launch it. But I do now.
-
My battery died on my laptop and so the computer shut down. It seems I'm going to have to rebuild the game and then launch it again. Not sure why, but none of the launch commands work upon opening Terminal.
-
Hmmm...I tried the
cd /Users/.../0AD/binaries/system
./pyrogenesis_dbg
commands (replacing, of course, the ellipsis with my directory) but it just said "No such file or directory." Any ideas? I even tried the command inside Terminal itself, with the same result.

Good to hear that there's someone else to confirm that I'm not crazy! See the ticket here for some details of the same error: http://trac.wildfiregames.com/ticket/683
Unfortunately no one has figured out why this happens yet. The good news is that this only occurs when you're in full screen mode. To get into windowed mode, either hit alt+enter while you're in game, or you can manually define the size of the window like this:
- Open /0AD/binaries/data/config/default.cfg
- Near the top you should find a line that says "windowed = true". Just change this to 'false' instead.
- If you want your window to be a bit bigger than it normally is, change the xres and yres settings to suit your preferences. I would strongly recommend you don't change these to be whatever your screen size is when you're in windowed mode. Take at least 100px off of each value or else the dock/header bar will inevitably get in your way and cut things off that you'll need, like the quit button.
That worked. Although it was odd: the default.cfg said "windowed = false" and I had to change it to "true" for it to load in a windowed form. And alt-enter crashed the app... Nevertheless, it's working now. Thanks!
- Open /0AD/binaries/data/config/default.cfg

I've gone through the tedious compiling of 0 A.D. earlier. Do I have to go through it every single time I want to load the game and play, or is there an easier way of doing it (even if I have to use terminal commands)?
I am no geek, and so any geeky help would be unintelligible to me, unfortunately, unless it's very specific (Step 1: "write exactly this;" Step 2: "Then write this" etc.)
Thanks!

I've compiled 0AD in MacOSX 10.6 but am having serious errors assigning characters to tasks. Whenever I select a guy (or anything else you can move around and assign tasks to, but for the sake of the argument I'll just say "guy") and try to assign him to harvest metal, food, meat, attack, (or anything else other than "go here") my mouse pointer jumps to the center of the screen every time I mouse over something harvestable/attackable. This means, of course, that when I try to have him harvest a tree, my mouse jumps to the center of the screen, where the tree isn't. I was being attacked by an enemy ship and could not defend myself because the mouse would jump to the center of the screen every time I tried to have my ship attack the enemy.
Any ideas? I am completely deficient regarding programming and geeky knowledge, so just compiling the program was a bit of a challenge for me, even though I had step-by-step instructions. Any help would be appreciated.
