Use of elephants for war purposes is definitely a controversial subject. Some people seem absolutely sure they had them, other seem absolutely sure they didn't. Truth is, we don't know. If they had any, they were never used to any impressive degree against either Egyptians, Persians, Ptolemies or Romans, as none of these are known to have ever actually fought against Kushite elephants.
