Pretty sure cavalry archers don't fire blindly upwards :)

Infantry archers do.

But this was from Qin dynasty (beginning of Roman republic and height of Greek, Seleucids.

I noticed today that han fields look... mmmh, let's say they look weirder than some stone wall. I'm guessing that's impossible to create buildings that go under ground level in 0ad, but it would be much more logical if rice fields looked more like square patches of low terrain, circled by simple embankments on their sides. Something less eyecatching, it's just fields. Now they look like some kind of hot springs.

Of course if fields are built on slopes, than the current model are much better.

Unless something changed we don't use rice fields as it's not historically accurate... I had one for non sloppy terrain.

Hi Stan,

While I'd love to see the Han included in the public mod, I don't think it's ready. The most important issue is the major anachronisms. I certainly do not claim to be an expert on Chinese history, but multiple things are clearly wrong. A few examples:

  • The <History> of the siege_tower.xml talks about Ming and Qing sieges.
  • The city walls seem to be based on Ming stone architecture; the Qin and Han built massive city walls from earth.
  • The Song were the first to built a navy, and the mod's large warships resemble those.
  • Rice cultivation is dominant in Southern China, but the Han and other dynasties prior to the Song were Northern Chinese, with wheat, barley, and millet cultivation.
  • The examination system only started to emerge under the Tang.

Minor problems include that nobody has looked at gameplay balance yet, and the technologies, civ bonuses, special structures, and ministers certainly need a hard look; also strings; art file names perhaps too.

Kind regards,

Nescio

...but iron tools were much more effective after the Spring and Autumn Period and best documented during the Han dynasty period of 206 B.C.–A.D. 220. Detailed scenarios of rice farming were recorded in Han period mural tombs, portraits on stones and bricks (Fig.4)......

...The same book documented the techniques of water temperature control for rice paddies. Notably during the Han dynasty period, various new technologies were being developed to improve agricultural pursuits, such as a multiple tube seed drill for tilling soil and snowing seeds simultaneously, water lifting devices for irrigation, and winnowing devices..

@Nescio could you explain further? I only find sources that the Han used Rice. (Not exclusively, but that they used it)

The Han actor was missing so I used the Carthaginian one which definitely work. Also, Carthaginian models are prettier.

Well don't ^^" If they are missing they need to be fixed, which is the whole point of this thread...

I believe that the only thing that should be corrected is the facial textures that are a little out of date (with textures with a lower definition I imagine, maybe someone has the original fonts).

Secondary Bows + Secondary Swords upgrades did not enact a weapons switch when attacking from distance or up close. (could be confused as to how it works)

Unlock Champions in Barracks was not necessary as champs were already unlocked after entering City Phase.

Battering Ram and Stables icons.

@Yekaterina there is a 0ad discord server? I mean something somewhat official

There are at least 3 to my knowledge:

V2.0 (best one): https://discord.gg/vBgSmYAe

Old one: https://discord.gg/A6VQZGw5

Another old one: https://discord.gg/BHMqxFMX

There is a very toxic one that contains some Wesnoth players. I am not sure if I should share the link publically; I am beginning to regret joining that server.

BTW i cant read your messages and from WikiPedia: Discord's data protection provisions [33] grant the company extensive rights to transmit all chats, messages and other data unencrypted, to collect them and to process them into data for sale. [34] By agreeing to the terms of use, Discord is expressly allowed to track and save information from direct messages or sent images and voice chats. [35] In addition, all data can be transferred to American servers. Discord therefore does not guarantee the protection of personal data prescribed in the GDPR and is therefore not GDPR-compliant. Although Discord is also free in the commercial environment, it can therefore hardly be used there within the EU. [34]

What about: https://alternativeto.net/software/discord-app/?license=opensource
