But I also don't know if this is a democracy or what's the deal with the closed poll...

Just to clarify -> We're not going with the most upvoted suggestion. The poll is mostly here to see if some names get a clear lead.

The poll closed on June 1st because that was the original FF date, I've reopened it up until Sunday (didn't notice that).

To be honest, so far, Y seems like it's lacking in very relevant names. I'm not sure what's getting picked at all at this stage.

We can leave it at the letter Y, because it is such a good source of memes an puns. Why? Y. (the sound of it)

Other considerations: Y-axis (since there are so many mathematicians and scientists playing this game), Y-chromosomes etc

decent names starting with Y: Yurya, Yelizaveta

Or I wouldn't mind if you just use my name.

Unfortunately, its Old Chinese trascription would be something close to "qrum lang", or in the IPA, /*q(r)um laŋ/.

I suggested Yinyang because of the rebalance focus.

Anyway the alpha names don't respect the old etymologies of the words (I pointed it out before, page 2).

Furthermore, the whole idea of using letters like W, Y or Z is a problem in regard to ancient names and alphabetical order.

At the end, instead of a cool idea it becomes pedantry.

That is actually a good idea man

I think we're going to go with Yauna - still a few days for a late change of heart on our end, but it's looking unlikely.

See reasoning at https://code.wildfiregames.com/D4130

I do agree that the naming scheme is getting quite awkward - That being said, we've got only 2 letters left, and I feel it's natural to finish what we started. We'll see what we do once Z rolls over, as names in AA are unlikely :P

I find it ridiculous that games are rated AAA solely based on the developer's budget but not its actual quality; many open source games are superior to some so-called AAA games.

Names starting with AA are hard to find, but perhaps we can try Aaron? Most names starting with AA are Indian.

Perhaps we can try using the Greek alphabet next after the Latin alphabet runs out, then Phoenician, Persian...

Or, we can restart from A again.

The commit has been made: Yaunā is the name.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions, it's been quite hard to find something good for 'Y' in the end, and we chose to remain relatively topical as we did in past alphas.

I'll leave this thread open, though close the poll open.
